This doesn't happen in college?

What evidence is there that going to two years of college fixes that?

College education for most people is overrated. Especially these "student" athletes. For every student that takes it seriously there are 5 that don't.

Store credit and the opportunity to make a real living when you are done.

That's definitely superior to making an actual living.

Keep in mind that in the two years you force a player to go to school he's going to earn a million dollars. The present value of that money is worth way more than what most of these kids could earn with a 2 year associate degree over a lifetime.

Its a no-brainer. Plus, they will be better at basketball and have a chance to work overseas in varioius other leagues making a decent living.

You are talking about a select few that would make a million dollars

Since they would be earning a decent wage they can go partime like I did while I was working.

Online classes? Did you travel as much as them? Any coaches gonna let them leave practice to study for a test?

Besides, no one cares about the D-League anyways and they never will.

If you increase the talent pool of the D-League that would change quickly.

And if you rae motivated enough you can get to all your classes or attend your classes online.

Doubtful. It will never in a million years be as popular as college basketball. Hell, we have a state of the art AAA baseball stadium and a good team and no one gives a ****. I used to go to Richmond Braves games, no one cared; I could get tix for $10 and sit right behind home plate. I don't think people are going to care even more about the D-League. No one even knows what cities they play it except people that live there.

They already show more D-League games on TV than they do with minor league baseball games. This is even without a solid talent pool.

I don't think its going to be a billion dollar industry or anything but it will be profitable enough to support the players and ensure they can create a decent life for themselves.

NCAAs popularity primarily stems from the NCAA tourney (gambling) and drunk college kids. THe product on the court is awful.

What channel, I've never seen more than 2 minutes of a D-League game and it was not good.

College basketball product is not terrible and you are mistaken if you think that's the only people that make it popular. You ever been to a Big East basketball game? ACC? Heck, I went to a CUSA school for undergrad and we sell out 9k seats. Creighton sells out 15k. The majority of schools do really well. And it surely isn't just college students.

So they should pay the players. Its not fair to those kids that they cant make a decent living.

They play D-League games on NBA TV and the KNicks D-League team is on MSG all the time.

Of course the D-League product is bad right now. People go overseas to make more money. Lets keep these kids in America and develop them here.

The ones whom would be drafted which is what an NBA age limit would affect.

Exactly. There would be some fringe players that would be taken as well but they would also be making more money at 18/19 than most people would and getting free finance lessons from experts.

This isn't reasonable. But I don't think it matters

Don't most contracts include stipulations that the teams will pay for their college? That system seems more reasonable than making kids take two years of classes (of which the curriculum is usually a joke).
