NBA Thread

Not wanting to play devils advocate but there are some major red flags with Luka. Not saying i would have made the trade bc maybe he's still worth the risk but he's fat, out of shape, and has horrible defense at 25, whats he going to look like at 30? 35? He has not dedicated himself to being in for the long haul.

Now, the trade for Davis was a bad return bc of Davis injury concerns. If he was healthy, Dallas might actually be a better team in the short term. But, a la, he cant stay healthy and will be past his prime in no time.

They dont have the roster this year. I dont why people have these crazy hot takes about them right now. They'll rework the roster this offseason, get a big or two, make a few trades, and will be fine. Luka also missed like a month and is on a new team. He'll be fine eventually.

Does it really matter either way? OKC is going to run the league for the next 5-7 years.

Biggest problem with OKC is having to pay everyone with the new apron rules. But they do have 700 picks to replace others when it's time to pay them.

Fighting for second place behind San Antoinio.
If Wemby stays healthy

Hope this weird shoulder injury isn’t a sign of things to come. Players his size are unicorns. Players his size that don’t have significant injury issues are even bigger unicorns

They've got to get a couple more guys. With SGA/Chet/Williams in place Wemby/Castle alone will not be even close to enough.

You didn't mention D'Aaron Fox, who is as good as anyone else that OKC has. They also have 2 first round picks in this years draft and can possibly get yet another piece.

Plus they can either use Vassell/Johnson/Sochan as trade pieces or additional rotation pieces.

OKC is good with a competing deadins slightly sooner than SA, but the Spurs could be really good next year.

I hope SA extends Fox. He is good but not a great player. Doesn’t worry me in the least.

iHart is better than him too and given his own team I think Cason, who is an absolute maniac defensively, would be better.

Okc could get sixers pick (unlikely) but with embids questionable future if it doesn’t convey this year it’ll convey next where it seems most people think the draft is better.

OKC has a way better core in place than SA does. Plus they have a ton of picks in the next 2-3 drafts. SGA is already a proven top 3-4 player in the league. Biggest question for OKC with the new apron rules is if they'll give Chet/Jalen super max deals.

Chet/Jalen won't hit super max for another 6+ years so at that point they will be fine - ANd if this is only a 4-6 year run thats good too.

I would not rate Hartenstin or Cason Wallace higher than DAaron Fox.

Both OKC and SA have some potential glue guys off the bench but Wemby/Fox/Castle is a tremendous headstart with some good pieces coming this season (not hypothetical protected and 2nd rounders).

Its a bunch of projection with Cason but like Giddey (who is exploding right now with Chicago) he will never get 'stats' because of how much talent is on the team. Like I said, Cason is a maniac defensively, can shoot the ball (awful start to year) and when he is given an opportunity to run point can create. But I think MOST people would rate Fox far ahead of Cason at this time for sure.

Not sure what isn't to like about iHart - He is the absolute perfect big for the modern NBA.

Giddey is not very good. He's one of the worst defensive players in the NBA.

I liked Cason a lot coming out of college but its just projection with him.

Hartenstein is a good role playing big/4th or 5th option.

They gotta fix the end of basketball games. It’s simply brutal and runs contrary to how the whole game goes until the last 2 m

Month later and Giddey just had his best month as a pro!
