NBA Thread

Tried watching some summer league ball last night (Hou/Philly). Holy **** it's terrible, I've seen better games at the YMCA. Neither roster had anybody really worth a ****.

Nick Johnson seems ok, but a tweener. Noel is athletic but seems to be lost most of the game and will get bullied by NBA bodies.

Summer league is good for what it is. It gives you an opportunity to see if the young guys can be a focal point. It also gives those same guys opportunities to test their skills in a structured environment. I'm a basketball junkie so I love watching it.

The level of play is lower than college basketball.

2nd game back after 18 months of no basketball. He actually looks OK, and yes is VERY athletic.

Yeah, I think the whole frail body thing is overstated with these players. They will gradually build muscle but basketball is unique in that you don't need to be jacked to dominate.

Noel will be at worst a good defensive player. He's on a pogo stick out there.

Sixers are doing it the right way. You have to completely gut your team and get top picks while also taking advantage of salary dumps and accumulating more assets. That was how OKC did it but they got lucky by picking in drafts with excellent talent.

I don't know if they are doing it the right way or not, but they are screwed with the year they got the overall pick and what players were available to them in the other years. They have a cluster**** of players that have no chance of being successful together so they are going to have to make more wholesale changes.

You may be right but they have assets and that is the name of the game right now in basketball. How many assets can you assemble at one time and what can you turn them into.

I don't think we know exactly if the players they got will not be top players. I think Embid certainly can be. People seem to love Saric. Noel has a very high ceiling. I think they have a shot.

There's no other way to do it other than hoping LeBron wants to sign with you. The old front office tried the other way for 15 years and it was terrible. At least there's young talent and assets in place. Noel and Embiid can play together fine. They'll need to get a few shooters next off-season, but they'll likely have another top 5 pick and will prob pick up another 1st rounder from a team salary dumping. I don't know, I see a lot of young talent coming through.

Cavs clear Jack by trading him to BK, they now have 24 mil in cap space. More than enough for the Bron max, they are reaching out to Ray Allen and James Jones (2 LeBron guys).....IF Bron signs in Clev, there's a rumor they would then flip Wiggins for Love.

Kyrie - Bron - Love

That would be dangerous. I do think Bron could team up with Wiggins, but Love is probably a better fit.

Perfect fit, IMO....You have Kryie and Bron who live in the paint and are always getting defenders to collapse and Love is the perfect stretch 4 to camp out and get wide open looks. That combo would win a few rings IMO and that core is wayyyyyyyyy younger than Miami, so the window would be much larger.

While I don't want to see LeBron go to Cleveland, I'd say it's the better basketball choice than Miami, just like Miami > Cleveland four years ago.

I hope he signs in Miami because he's much more dangerous in Cleveland the next 5-6 years than he would be in Miami with that team they have now.

If Bron signs with Cle, I can't wait for the PR spin from him.

"You know I never left Cleveland, I still live here and always have even since I went to Miami. I went to Miami to learn under one of the best of all time in Pat Riley, to learn how to win you know. Now that I've done it and won 2 championships and have gone to the finals 4 years in a row, I've learned how to be a winner and champion so I'm looking forward to bringing what I know and learned back to Cleveland to hopefully bring this city and my home a championship".

I'm just waiting for all these brand new Miami fans who have polluted the universe the last four years to switch allegiances to Cleveland. Gonna be hilarious either way. If he does go back to Miami, Cleveland will still flip its ****.

Agreed, but on one hand I want to see him continue to skull **** NBA fans like niners and Heyward that invent reasons to hate him.
