This is complete bull****.

People with talent play div. 1 basketball or in the NBA....it has nothing to do with smarts or identifying talent.

Well I've never said it has anything to do with smarts but I think its a great pre cursor to identify talent.

Not only do those guys play at the D1 level or the pros but they have been coached and practiced with other players for as long as some of these stat guys have been alive. If you don't think that provides them with better experience to identify talent then we just aren't going to agree on this issue.
 
So you missed Ariza, Nate and Chandler who were later picks so those were great picks.

When you get talent at the end of the first round that is incredible. Anyone can hit at the top of the draft (Lebron/KD/Melo). Its the picks outside the lottery like Ibaka/Ariza/Parker/Ginobli/etc... that prove you have a great eye for talent.

So he's great for drafting 3 guys that are role players at best toward the middle to end of the first round? That sounds like crap to me.

No, thats great drafting. Again, its been analyzed by many already. Thomas was an excellent drafting GM meaning that he understands how to identify young players with talent which is the hardest thing to do in sports. Too bad for him he sucked at everything else.

Well, I think the answer to my quesiton is tough.

I think both teams will be playoff teams this year. Calderon is one of the biggest upgrades at any position in all of basekball. Felton was that awful. I think Melo is going to thrive in a system that doesn't ask him to do anything. Amare is looking as healthy as he has looked in 3 years and Hardaway looks like he can be a 12-16 PPG scorer. I like the Knicks team this year and I really believe that Fisher is going to excel as a coach.

The Nets are going to be the same story as they have been for the last three years. If Deron/Brook can stay healthy this team will win around 50 games in the East but they won't so it doesn't really matter. Nets have quietly assembled some solid young players on their team in Plumlee/Mirza/Bogdonavich(unproven of course). They will miss Pierce because he was really good at the 4 last year but he was bound to have a decrease in efficiency as the years move on.

At this point because of the uncertainly with the Nets because of injury I would have to give the nod to the Knicks for now.

His whole term in NY was a joke outside of Drafting a couple good role players, everything else was pure trash.

The argument that I made was that Isaiah has a good eye for evaluating young talent. All the things you referenced there are irrelevant to the point that I made.
 
He went from shooting:

75% at the line to 61%

22% from 3 to 11%

46% from the floor to 47% (5 shots a game)
