The anchor that the whole defense is designed around was not even close to full strength. For you to actually think the Ibaka we saw in last year's western conference finals was close to a full strength Ibaka isnlaughable. The guy was hobbling all over the place.

How well was Wade walking when they won it all a couple years ago?

Making excuses for not winning because your 3rd best player was injured (but still played insane minutes) is just whining.

Why didn't Miami win last year? Miami had the miracle of all miracles to win two years ago as well.

Its laughable how you minimize the importance of a plyaer like Ibaka has.

They didn't win because the Spurs beat them. They blew game 6.

You don't get tired of making excuses? Where does it end, what's next? If Adams goes out injured is that the excuse for not winning this year?

I guess not having your third best player (Wade) healthy hurts.

No, as long as the core three players of the Thunder are healthy they should win a title. If thye get a chance and they don't then its a big fail.

The Heat won it all 2 years ago with Wade limping through the playoffs.

Klosterman is one of the most insightful people I know.

I disagree with Simmons though. Morey's strategy worked because he knew eventually a player would become available and you need the assets to obtain then. He wasn't bailed out as much as he was opportunistic.

A player? Yes......James Harden? No

Does Morey have a job if he traded those parts for Rudy Gay? Probably not....he got lucky OKC was incredibly dumb.

Its nice when you get to play in the East. He was just fine in the finals and they got bailed out by a miracle.

How many other teams were dumb when they wouldn't trade for Harden?

They wanted Beal or Thompson before the Houston deal.

Series was even and Ibaka was playing

How many teams have traded away a 23 year old that turned into an MVP over that small amount of money? There might be 1 or 2 but I can't think of any.

How many teams drafted as successfully as the THunder did over a three year stretch?

Plenty of teams have good drafts, I don't see how that answers anything? Plus after Ibaka, OKC hasn't really drafted all that greatly. Which is why they are struggling with depth and when injuries pop up.

Please name the teams that drafted three top 10 players in three consecutive years in addition to one of the top 5 defensive bigs in the league that can stretch the floor.

Thunder have drafted just fine afterwards. Jackson mailed it in because he wanted to go elsewhere. Adams and McGary are promising young bigs. Even a guy like Roberson has a place in this league once he improves his shooting. Nobody hits every year in the draft.

Then have they underachieved?

You still have to evaluate players effectively. Rudy Gay was available and they could have easily obtained him, but they chose not to.

Conversely, they went all in on Harden because they saw a player that was undervalued who was question mark. Other teams could have traded for Harden, but Houston was the only one with the foresight to understand he was worth betting the house.
