Monta/Wes (if it ends up that way) certainly makes the team better. You don't think that creates more than 1 additional win? They traded two assets; Staukas, who isn't that good, but certainly an asset and a non top 10 first round pick.

Collison/Monta

Matthews/Gay/Mclemore

WCS/Cousins

should win more than 30 games. Certainly not a competitive playoff roster, but at least a team that can compete. People are overating what the Kings gave up.

A healthy Wes improves their team, but I'm just not sure Rondo/Monta do. I honestly don't think they win 30 games next year.

No, I looked him up and saw what his background is. I just want to stress how incredibly dumb it is to disregard what the guy that knows everything about the NBA has said. If you think Beck has more sources than Woj, you are clinically insane or just unwilling to admit you are wrong.

I think it's perfectly logical to think Beck has more sources in those cities.

I've been pleasantly surprised with Phil this offseason. He's finally showed some acknowledgement that New York needs to rebuild the right way.

Its not a bad plan but NY doesnt have a 1st in 2016.

And he maxed out Melo so i dont get trying to rebuild given that fact.

Even still. Surrounding Melo with spare parts and trinkets doesn't sound like a winning formula.

Knicks fans should embrace a rebuild. In the NBA they don't take terribly long and you are always the right free agent away from winning.

The franchise didn't by signing Melo to that huge extension.

The entire west is better. Besides, they won 29 games last year. It's not as if I'm predicting some massive decline. I just don't buy that they are actually improved.

I don't think it's possible that every team improved, there has to be some teams that improve and some regress. I still have a suspicion that go for Lawson and Matthews. The three best players on this years team (Cousins, Collison, Gay) account for only about 70% of the games played last year. Plus, I liked McLemore a bit coming out of college so they can pray for growth in him.

What is the goal here? To be slightly worse than average and pick 12-14 in the lottery every year?

It sounds like the goal is to be a competitive team to put some butts in the seats and make sure they keep Cousins.

They don't take long if you hit on a couple superstars in the draft. Look how long Philly is terrible for. Detroit has been rebuilding forever. You still need to get lucky with ping pong balls and then draft right player/have a great draft class. Imagine getting first overall pick and it being Anthony Bennett....lol.

And go down a never ending path of mediocrity.

It makes no sense to have a team that just either barely makes the playoffs or just barely misses.

As opposed to being the Sixers level bad and having the risk of the team leaving the city?

The Kings will not be able to even remotely compete next year, which makes the trade bad for them. They accomplished nothing but opening cap room to be mediocre or worse, which is worse than being terrible (big picture).

The Sixers model works more often than the35-40 win model to placate the fanbase IMO.

Sixers got real unlucky with Embid.

(there's nothing concrete at all with embiid; he himself said he feels great, they are being ultra careful).
