Thethe said he opted out because he wanted Blatt fired.

Also, stolen from Twitter:

"I don't understand why KD left. We traded for Waiters. We hired a college coach. We matched Kanter..."

Worry about your own team.

I wonder what you are going to say if KD re-signs with the Thunder.

not really? why don't they give Adams FT minutes and sign someone as a backup?

Its an option but Kanter is a double double machine at the center position and should make the PnR fun all year with KD healthy.

I'm hoping that he can at least improve his defense to a below average level and that the other great defenders around him help mask his deficiencies.

This is the only way that OKC can improve. They can't sign any other free agents. Its too much for Kanter but if they let him walk they get nothing back so unfortunately there isn't much of an option.

Ownership has to show the willingness to spend over the cap in KD's FA year. The Thunder could have one of the best offensive teams ever next season.

IDK man, if the Thunder were as confident in Adams as you are, they'd let him play instead of signing perhaps the worst defensive player in the league to a max contract.

It has absolutely nothing to do with Adams.

They made the trade for Kanter because they had a tradeable asset in jackson. Its not a good contract but its probably even worse just letting a player leave withoiut having an ability to replace him.

does this not block adams?

Adams will not get 35 minutes a night if thats what you are asking.

This doesn't mean that this move was made with any consideration to Adams. Presti whole goal is to make sure he has the most talented team on the floor possible for the next few seasons in order to convince KD/RW that OKC is the best place for them to cement their legacies.

So Kanter is better than Adams, you're saying?
This is that magic 3rd year, and Adams won't even be a starter?

Confused, bc you claim that includes Kanter?

Adams will not be a starter this year. I could not forsee this happening so obviously my statement is going to be wrong.

...but if he were as good as you claim, why would they not let him play? he's apparently amazing on offense and defense (or should be, by his 3rd year), so why won't they give him the keys to the center console?

How many are better defensively and/or in aggregate? You think KD is going to stay in OKC because they have a crappy center?

When the team has hte best offense in the league I think KD will be happy. Zach Lowe had something on his podcast really intersting the other day. Teams are going small and basically nullifying the big man because not enough big men can punish the opposing team for going small. Kanter is basically one of the few centers that can do that.

It will be interesting to see if it works. Luckily having a stretch 4 who is great defensively might let this work. OKC is one of the few teams where Kanters deficiencies may not be crippling.

Because like I said they had a tradeable asset and acquired Kanter. Its not smart to just let him go when they literally cannot replace him with anyone.
