NBA Thread

any team coached by Thibs is going to play hard.

He's insane; he even plays pre-season to win.

He is not as much of a project as has been portrayed.

I feel the same way about Tony Snell, a fairly derided pick (even by myself at the time; the Bulls really could have used a young center to back-up Noah and push Nazr Mohammed down the depth-chart) who nonetheless looks like he could be a good back-up wing a bit sooner than most opined.

I'm assuming those are his career numbers?

Again, as of right now Rose is not a bad shooter. He isn't Durant but he isn't my main man Landry.

Those are the 40 games he played in 2012, if you look at 2011:

At the rim - 60%

3-9 feet - 39%

10-15 feet - 42%

16-23 feet - 38%

Three's - 32%

Landry Fields:

At the rim - 60%

3-9 feet - 51%

10-15 feet - 32%

16-23 feet - 42%

Three's - 14%

So Fields is actually a better mid range shooter than Rose, based on the numbers.

Rose jumper is pretty damn good.

I dont think you can take away much on a preseason game but going up against maybe the best defensive team in the league, Adams impressed.

jpx, Chi starts Butler/Deng together, right?

That's gonna make them tough on the perimeter, both of them are elite defensive players.

Snell has a nice motor. He is going to work well in THibs system. Thibs is insane though...Rose was on the floor in the last two minutes of last nights game. I thought htat was a bit too much. But, its that approach that makes me take more out of Adams' performance. He was very good last night and will add a completely new element to the Thunder. A big man that can catch the ball and score inside. He even flashed a solid hook shot last night.

What did you think of his performance?

Butler is going to be a hell of a player. Offensive game won't be good enough to be a star but the perfect player to put aside a star like Rose.

Yes and yes. Butler's transformed into a really excellent back-court partner for Rose, as well: solid handles, great going to the basket and drawing fouls, emerging three-point shooting, lock-down defense, but ultimately a player comfortable in a lower-usage offensive role that doesn't need a ton of touches to contribute. A pretty great find for the thirty-second pick in the draft.

It'll be nice to actually and finally see Rose, Butler, Deng, Boozer, and Noah play together: I'll really enjoy watching four guys whirring around to compensate for Boozer on defense. But seriously: the close-out lineup of Rose–Butler–Deng–Gibson–Noah is going to be terrifically tough for opposing offenses.

Unfortunately I missed watching the game, so I'm only basing my observations off the stat-lines and recaps; but, from what I've read, Adams seems to have pretty solid offensive skills, is young with great size, and certainly looks – based on his preseason performance – a lot more prepared to play (and play meaningful minutes; he's already better than Thabeet) than most pegged. I also think – with an unusually high pick for an elite team – it was smart for the Thunder to swing for the fences a bit in preparing for the post-Perkins period (which really can't come soon enough for that team). It's hard to evaluate his defensive skills and ceiling without having watched him, though.

His raw skills are solid. He gets out of position a lot on defense but that is to be expected. I am surprised with his level of polish on the offensive end. He is going to get Durant/RW another 1-3 assist per game.

By the time he starts, for sure 1-2, Perk is such a liability on offense.

Adams is better than most thought would be, he has good touch around the rim.

You and Giles made it seem like he was the worst draft pick of all time. It will be interesting to see if anyone after him is any better.

I think the fact that he isn't going to Tulsa is a good sign. Guy might even become the starter by midseason.

regardless of what you say about preseason he has looked good and did well against Boozer/Gibson last night.

What have I said about him? I haven't even paid attention to him outside of seeing that clip of him. He's a project..I don't think he's very good, but I'm not really concerned with him. Why would I act like he's the worst pick of all time?

I should just pencil him in for ALL NBA right now....just ignore his 7 and 6 stat line in college. Hell, maybe OKC would trade Dwight for him?

I love how you say completely ridiculous stuff when you realize your reading comprehension or memory sucks.

Nice to make crap up again.

Except no one said that.

You're expecting a guy who scored 7 PPG in college to get KD/RW 3 extra dimes a game.....................................

That wasn't what you originally said and now you realized that you read what I said wrong. Moving on....

You do not watch the Thunder. Do you even realize how many times KD/RW cause the defense to collapse only to have Perkins completely blow a point blank opportunity?

I don't think Adams will have much self creating offense but that boy is uber athletic for his size. He can catch the ball and put it in the basket and do it 10000000000000000000X better than Perkins.

If you do not understand this then you just don't watch the Thunder play.

Wizards trade for Gortat.

Suns get: Protected top-12 pick in 2014, and Okafor.

Wiz get: Kendall Marshall, Shannon Brown, and Gortat.

Unless they extend Gortat, i'm not sure of that move.

Even if they make the playoffs, next years draft is SOOOOOOOO stacked.
