NL MVP

I'd say Baez and Freeman are the front runners due to their teams success. Hard to ignore Carpenters and Arenado's season as well.

Freeman needs a tear hitting homers to put him clearly ahead. He’s still hitting but he needs a torrid stretch for the what did you do down the stretch crowd

I think Freeman leads it right now. Carpenter having the best overall year, but on a Cardinals team that's likely not going to make the playoffs. Also, Carpenter will cool off at some point. He has an .855 career OPS and June 18th he had an OPS below .800.

Baez and Arenado are the likeliest to overtake Freeman. Freeman is having a slightly better season than both at this point, but it's super close.

I think Freddie has a hot streak left in him that will send us into the playoffs and clinch himself the MVP. He only has 1 homer in the last 2 weeks and only 3 homers in his last 192 PA's. So he's due.

With no position player having a truly remarkable season, the stage is set for a pitcher like Scherzer to win it.

At the end of the day it’s a pretty silly award and will most likely go to whichever player gets hot and leads a team to the postseason in a close race. Writers will love to vote for the guy who just so happened to perform well the last couple weeks of the season.

So Swanson then.

It's Carpenter, Arenado, Freeman and Baez, I would guess.

I have Arenado as the most deserving at this point, I think. I'd probably be the least inclined to vote for Baez.

It's a narrative award when there is no clear favorite, so probably goes to the clutchiest down the stretch.

Unless Carpenter keeps up the torrid pace, in which case he's clearly gonna win.

If Freeman has a few big moments vs the Phils in the last week of the the season and the Braves win the division he will almost certainly win the award.

Regardless, this is going to be one of the lowest WAR totals posted by an MVP in a while.

It’ll be a guy from a playoff team. I don’t see Scherzer, Carpenter, or Arenado winning it if their teams miss the playoffs.
