NL Rookie of the Year Watch

Another big shift overnight.

Horton from -145 to -170.
Baldwin from +135 to +180.

One more dominant Horton start tomorrow night, and we'll probably be able to turn the lights off here. Such a bummer. I can't believe how Baldwin has tanked in recent weeks.

Baldwin has been pretty terrible for a few weeks. If he was just hitting or playing a normal position he probably would still be hitting. Playing catcher is another beast.

All Baldwin needs is a couple big games.

1 good week from Baldwin would turn it around completely. That's really all we need. Rack up like 7-8 hits with a couple of homers and a double to 2. That would lock it up for him, imo, regardless what Horton does.

This has been over for a while now. Horton has 10 wins and a sub-3 ERA for a high-profile team that’s going to the postseason. He is getting the most votes.
I get that, but both Collins and Durbin with the Brewers have higher bWARs and fWARs than Horton and they play for a team that PECOTA thought would finish 11 games behind the Cubs. I don't know how the whole notion of qualifying for the post-season figures in the heads of writers (it shouldn't but likely does) and I imagine the teddy bear points that the Cubs often receive in the baseball media world might figure in here. This is a year when there will probably be a lot of discussion and possible animus surrounding the choice.

This is where I'm headed also. Baldwin has been here since day 1 and that is what MLB is wanting from these teams and their top rookies who are ready. I think that will play a huge part bc what if Horton had 5-6 more starts would his numbers still look good?

If the Cubs were smart they'd let this be Horton's last start of the season if he pitches really well tonight. He's due for a stinker.
