Noonan Gets It About Right

Just two random Pulitzer winning, nationally syndicated, contemporarily enlightened, and unabashedly liberal columnists with daily readership in the millions.

...

Too lowbrow for DailyKOS I guess.

Their forte is that Obama golfs ?

Maureen Dowd specializes in lazily cobbling Beltway conventional wisdom into middlebrow snark about the current administration, whatever it is, whenever the media mandarins decide that the wind has shifted. She did it Bush, and to Clinton. I'm sure she's hoping that Hilary gets elected, because the columns are probably already written.

She did it Bush, and to Clinton.

And Gore.

Al Gore is so feminized and diversified and ecologically correct that he's practically lactating.

But I don't see why anybody would read op-ed in a national paper for thoughtful commentary, anyways. It's all bombast, practically speaking -- but the sentiment is what's worth gauging, to me, especially in the context of this thread.

Got to love how the actual meat and potatoes of the Op-ed are missed. Typical 57 tactic, focus on a personality as a means of dismissing the argument. I'm not great with my logical fallacies recollection, but I think there is one of those in there somewhere and it probably has a good Latin name.

A ) Noonan never gets anything right
and
B)" President Obama would have been rocked the past few months by five things. One is the building criticism from left and right about his high need for relaxation—playing golf while the world burns. Another is that he misread the significance and public power of the beheadings of American journalists. Third, he has been way out of sync with American public opinion on Islamic State, which must be all the more galling because he thought he knew where Americans stood on the use of military force. Fourth, with his poll numbers declining (32% approval for his handling of foreign policy, according to The Wall Street Journal... "

The WSJ criticizes the POTUS - then asks me to subscribe ------ what meat and potatoes did I miss ? Shoot I dont even pay for late 19th century porn -why would I pay to read what some payed hack has to say ?
What was Ms Noonans stance on foreign policy in 2002-3? And going forward? What could she possibly have to sayafter say 1986 that anyone would pay to read?
Of course she disagrees with Obama - that is her job.

You pound bibles\I sand wood
She criticizes O

If I walk to the corner 5 times and ask the man in the Kiosk directions and each time he sends me not at all where I ask directions.
The 6th time ???

Hey Bedell -- I hear Cheney is trying to get the band back together -- sure he'll throw a few bones to the Christian Right -- you in?
Thinking here is there is a Latin Word for that too --

Actually I am sure MsNoonan is a very nice lady. so it is not personality but history.
Remember history?

ad hominem?

Op-ed wasn't behind the pay-wall at first. Sorry about that. She just explained well why sentiment was behind US action against ISIS while there still is justifiable war-weariness. And that Rs and Ds within the beltway haven't gotten why - and what is different now than earlier this year. If you could put aside hurt feelings over her criticism of POTUS or Rs then I think you could have seen that she had a well thought out sense of what's going on with much of the American electorate on the issue. An explanation that NeoCons, Libs, and Libertarians probably need to consider. Oh well.

Expand your mind 57 and consider that there are more conservative views than your nice little labels and boxes. It'll do you some good. But I know you really like your sophistry.

a) You posted an Op-Ed that is behind a WSJ subscriber wall
b) You scolded me for not getting to the "meat and potatoes"

You then lectured me and shook your finger. In front of the whole class. Talk about getting personal

I did try to read Ms Noonans article just like I read David Brooks article and will probably read Douhat's gibberish tomorrow. Just like I read Think Progress and the Guardian.

I'm sad to report The Guardian nor Think Progress scolded Obama for getting away from his desk
////////////////

Why on earth would I want to expand my mind on "more conservative views" Isn't that what is called in the big city an oxymoron
