North Korea

I can't imagine that South Korea's government (to say nothing of the 25M+ in the Seoul area) are on board with this kind of brinksmanship.

Unicorns should:

1) Be real

and

2) Have a program that merits actual popular consideration.

I shook Ron Paul's hand... so I assume he is real.

With regards to #2, the populace has been indoctrinated and brainwashed and made so dependent on the system, it's difficult to get there. After all, the suggestion of taking our federal budget back to 2014 levels is considered "draconian" and heartless"

I'd rather not hijack this thread with the same tired-ass argument, thanks. It's your hobbyhorse. I get it. Make another thread and/or just stew in the facile self-righteousness of your niche political preoccupation.

You've got sensitive lately.

Look - keep voting in the establishment and keep getting your wars.

This isn't that complicated.

Now - back to complaining about an oversees conflict we're scared about

Whats the solution with a madman like Kim Jung Un? You have to either face it head on or wait for it to explode over. Either way, its going to end in conflict.

Face what ?
N Korea has done nothing to the United States
and for all intent and purposes contained

But you know, containment requires patience and diplomacy.
Trumpians want big trucks and bombs that go boom.
Or a guy they can have a beer with

You have a greater than 0% chance of being killed in a nuclear explosion. I can think of worst ways to die.

I don't rate watching yourself melt and/or suffocating in a storm of fire as particularly good ways to die but to each his own. However, I believe the worst part is the radiation.

What countries has this madman invaded or attacked? We are currently bombing 6 countries and we invaded and occupied multiple countries relatively recently. When is someone going to invade us to stop our governments atrocities both at home and internationally.

We had dialogue with N Korea until the last time we had a wannabe "war time " President.

Next we had an Axis of Evil and for all intent and purposes not much has changed

it's weird to think that North Korea and the USA are both led by inept man childs still trying to out prove which one deserves their daddys love more

what a pathetic time for our country to have this guy as our "leader"

Don't forget that the (conservative) President of South Korea is sitting in a jail in central Seoul right now. The country is holding a snap election early next month, and the once highly favored liberal candidate, Moon Jae-in, has been forced to do a 360 on his North Korea policy because of all of this. Back in December he said his first trip if elected President would be to North Korea (his parents escaped from there) and is generally fairly anti-US interference on the peninsula. His numbers in the polls have absolutely cratered recently though (like within the past week) and he's been forced to take up hardline support for things like THAAD (hugely controversial in Korea and China) to compete with the moderate candidate, Ahn Cheol-soo (who is literally Korea's John McAfee without the crazy). Ahn is pro-America presence, pro-THAAD.

I think Ahn, who is more or less the populist candidate, will win, but whatever happens this weekend could potentially define South Korea's relationship with the United States for the foreseeable future ... one way or the other.

In the interim, (South) Korea is being run by a loathed lame duck administration and a Prime Minister who was previously a figurehead.

Yeah, we gave them nuclear technology, food, money, and signed Michael Jordan basketballs.

That worked out really well.
