Nukuler

Connoisseur of Minors
I've always been curious, why do people not like nuclear energy? I get that it's held back cause of the NIMBY, but I don't see a sound argument against it and I'd like to hear it.

We should not be afraid of science. Nuclear energy would be amazing for the world.

Chernobyl. Fear of something like that happening in the good ole USofA.

Chernobyl was a soviet reactor, that didn't have the same precautions as the US. Even the worst case US reactor issue was 3 mile island wasn't that bad.

The deaths in Chernobyl are still pretty minimal.

That, and the fact that it creates a by-product which is hazardous for tens of thousands of years.

Generation 4 reactors are going to be able to take that waste and get energy off there reducing the waste time from Millennia to centuries.

Sidebar, how does it compare to the waste issues that oil, coal, or the process of making things like Solar contribute as well?
