Official 2017 Trade Deadilne Thread

Not sure why y'all let the blackjack dealer bother you - Pache is a similar prospect to Florial (but a year younger at the same level), but the Yankees definitely don't have the depth to include the types of arms to go with him as the Braves do even if they make the Big 6 prospects off-limits.

An Anderson or Gohara, Touki or Wentz, Pache package easily trumps about anything the Yankees could offer if they're not willing to include some of their top guys.

The question is not whether or not we could beat a Yankees offer. We could obviously beat any offer these other teams threw out. The question is whether we want to beat those offers.

Would folks be happy with Verlander at $10M per year for 2 years in exchange for Allard? Could be palatable if you aren't high on Allard (some folks are convinced he is too small with no out pitch, so maybe it works).

I think so. Might even throw in a low minors lotto ticket if they insist. But no more than one of the premium prospects.

I'd still want them to take on Markakis as part of the offset to get the salaries to that range, but it wouldn't be a deal breaker.

He's cooled off considerably and is still sporting a .361 BABIP. I wouldn't trade Gohara for him.

Understand, but he is still doing it in the Majors and wasn't an unknown prospect. His value as a ~2- 4 WAR player for the next 4 years (I think he has four) holds pretty good value. It really boils down to if you think Mallex is closer to 2 WAR or 4 WAR.. and how much you buy into the Gohard helium. For me it is about even.

If the cost is no more than Anderson or Gohara, Touki or Wentz, and Pache I wouldn't think twice personally - but that's just me.

I would be stunned if he ever put up 4 WAR.

The most realistic package I think would get the deal done for Gray NOW would be:

Allard - the headliner
Sims - high K, flyball pitcher that would do well in Oakland, nearly MLB-ready
Pache - young OFer the A's are looking for
DPete/Rio/other nearly MLB-ready part

Wait until the offseason when there is no contender's premium, and the package is likely something like Allard and Pache, probably less.

I am against buying Gray now.

You have consistently shown time after time you have zero idea how to value anything with regards to trades. What you think is probably the least valuable contribution to this discussion.

A couple of the posters here would make much better and more knowledgable beat writers than Mr. Music, Food, and Sniffs Snitker's Butt, DOB.

I like Gohara just fine, but I do think Mallex is exactly the type of player Oakland would have wanted in a Gray trade.

Pache alone doesn't even get Beane to return your text.

That is a laughably light package. It's almost clv-level stupid.

Is pache good enough to be a headliner? Something like pache, sims, and say touki

I just posted what the BP guys ended up doing in their mock Gray trade. The headliners for the 3 best packages were Martes from Houston, Mejia from Cleveland and a combo of Pint/McMahon from Colorado.

There is no way Pache is the headliner for Gray in a trade that is even remotely close to even.

The A's will be getting at least 1 premium guy when they move Gray, so if the proposed package doesn't include a legit Top 50 guy (and not a fringe 50 guy), it isn't realistic.

I can see the A's valuing the nearly MLB-ready guys in the Braves organization more than almost any other team, but some of these packages being thrown around are the typical silliness posted around here when folks try to piece together trade packages of spare parts for stars. Seriously, if a proposal looks like something clv would come up with, you can rest assured it is completely unrealistic.

Agreed. The Astros would be able to beat that in their sleep. It's going to take something like Allard & Pache. Probably more. You have to give the A's a reason to do it.

Allard, Pache and their choice of 1-2 AAA guys that are MLB-ready. They will probably choose Sims.
