Official 2017 Trade Deadilne Thread

Gohard was shaky in his first AAA start.. to suggest he could get the next call is silly. Let the 20 year old pitch before casting him into the the majors.

We shouldn't be adding one to the 40 man unless we absolutely have to. We are going to face quite the roster crunch this offseason.

This is another reason to slow down with Acuna and don't bring him up until next year. That 40-man spot is valuable.

Wisler/Blair/Albers/Meds all deserve a shot before Gohard... well maybe not Blair..

Well, Wisler and Blair have had a shot and been called up. And Albers and Medlen are not really long-term options. He asked who gets the next long-term shot...I think that's clearly Gohara.

So Verlander is on waivers. I would normally say "no thanks", but I keep thinking there's some way to get rid of Kemp. The Tigers have SO many big contracts. If we also took on Jup and sent them Kemp...hmmm. They need relief and seems like there's a deal in there...maybe.

I don't think Verlander will ever be traded. He has a no trade list, plus 10 and 5 rights. He has all the leverage to make a team pick up his option year. It will probably be cheaper for the tigers to keep him and gamble that he pitches at the level of a # 3 or 4 the next two years.

J Up's contract looks a lot better now that he is playing near his career averages. They won't have to eat a lot of salary to trade him since he is only 30. I would offer them Kemp and Allard for J up

There's no way to get rid of Kemp. Just have to be ready to ride him out.

What was awesome to hear tonight was Hart's statement that they're prepared to spend this winter. He admitted that they "love" Riley, but also made no effort to hide that 3B is a huge problem - AND that Camargo doesn't have enough pop to be "the answer". Everyone understands the hesitance to spend on someone that blocks any of the kids, but a Moustakas signing (even if it's for 4 years at market value) doesn't get in anyone's way other than Riley, would be a huge upgrade, and would re-balance the lineup at whatever point Acuna replaces Markakis.

Given the fact that it looks more and more like they're willing to begin committing to the young arms, Moustakas can be added and Dickey retained without altering the 2017 Opening Day payroll.
