Official 2017 Trade Deadilne Thread

I think the systems are comparable currently. The return of this deal with New York could tip the scales in Chicago's favor. We have Albies and Acuna as high impact position players in the high minors; the Sox have Eloy and Moncada. Both systems have impressive depth in pitching prospects.

Braves have much better pitching prospects than the White Sox do.

They have better hitting prospects, i wont argue.

Sox have more star possibilities.

If you break it down for hitting then: Moncada, Jiminez, Robert, Collins, Basabe >> Acuna, Albies, Maitan, Demeritte, Riley (or Waters) and I think it would be really hard to argue that isn't correct.

If you break it down for pitching: Kopech, Giolito, Lopez, Fulmer, Cease > Allard, Soroka, Wright, Anderson, Fried but that's closer. I think it's clear the Braves are deeper in pitching but likely has less overall star potential.

And that is BEFORE knowing what the Yankees are sending them.

Look, I love the Braves. But, I don't let that blind me. The Sox now have more top end star potential while the Braves likely have a larger number of eventual ML players.

Allard, Gohara, Soroka, Anderson, Wright, Fried, Touki is far better than the White Sox pitching prospects.

Gio and Lopez have been hugely dissapointing.

They certainly have better hitting than we do in the minors.

You left off Gohara for us. For the pitching side I think we are top still. I agree with you for hitters.

I think this deal puts Chicago finally above the Braves. Rutherford has a chance to soar into the top 10 prospects in all of baseball in the next couple of years.

Braves still beat them in depth, but we can't match them in bluechippers.

Good post. It also makes even more angry that we are trying to trade hitters like Albies to get more pitching when we have limited star potential hitters in the system as it is.

Good value for the Sox .

Probably a coin flip now for best system.

Of course Atlanta has the farm system and actual pieces at the ML level.

I'm getting jealous of how much better the White Sox farm system has gotten in the last 5 days while we just sit and wait for a unlikely WC chance berth.

That's a great trade for both sides. The ChiSox are building quite the farm.

I'm sure folks here will still say it's #2 though haha

It's a coinflip right now but saying the Braves is better isnt that absurd.

I get you hate Coppy and want him to do bad though.

Other than maybe Julio, we dont have a lot that will bring much in return.

Yeah, I cut it off before novel length. I left off Hansen (a threat for 1/1 in 2016 until he got wild as a senior), Dunning, and Adams for the Sox.

Kopech and Giolito (and maybe Hansen) have true #1 stuff if they can harness it. Unlikely they all do but if Kopech approaches Syndergaard as he is compared, then the Sox likely have a higher end guy than any of the Braves prospects.

It's not traitorous to say other teams have good players. But, as someone else noted the Braves held on to Freeman, Teheran and Inciarte. The Sox look like they are moving everybody with a pulse.

We probably can put a package together better. Teheran and Adams. Maybe we can trade Flowers even that he is playing great. Right now with all the stupidity of the Braves we can expect anything.

That is what I am thinking. Are we wanting to trade FF, Swanson, Ender, JT, Folty so we can get back a head of the Chisoxs.. no thanks..

We need to dump a pen arm and I-Me... outside of that, we don't have anything that will move the needle.

Looks like Rutherford and Clarkin are part of the package.

Kopech, Cease, Hansen, Dunning, Adams, Giolito, Fulmer, Clarkin, Stephens and Lopez is a really solid core of pitching prospects. It is comparable to our stockpile of arms in terms of impact potential but not quite the depth. That's 10 really good young arms. I'd put our number at 14. Newcomb, Allard, Soroka, Anderson, Sims, Gohara, Wright, Touki, Wentz, Fried, Weigel, Muller, Wilson, Minter.

In terms of hitting prospects, Eloy, Moncada, Robert, Rutherford, Collins, Burger and Basabe exceed our Acuna, Albies, Maitan, Riley, Pache and Demeritte

Garcia, Phillips, Adams, Johnson. I'd still try to deal Teheran but I get the argument not to.

I'm not expecting a big return on any of those first four guys, but the chance the lottery ticket return turns into something useful is higher of our chances of making the playoffs. Start moving guys.

Any way who cares if White sox have a better farm? They don't have a Gold Gloves at center field plus one of the best player right now at MLB in Freedie Freeman. Plus White Sox play american league and there tougher teams look right now all the farms at the national league no one gets close.
