Official 2017 Trade Deadilne Thread

9 Deals FanRag could see happening...

No 5 -Matt Adams, 1B, from the Braves to the Yankees for Dominguez Acevedo, RHP, and Drew Finley, RHP

There are some goofy trades there. Gray and Doolittle from the A's for Frazier and Adams from the Yankees (#2 &# 7 prospects). So an oft injured RHP, having a decent but not great year, and a 30 YO LH reliever.

I would do Teheran, Adams and Johnson to the Yanks for Frazier and Andujar.

Getting Frazier would be pretty awesome. I'd do the package you put together for just Frazier. I'd also toss in Markakis or Kemp and see how much, if any, salary the Yanks would take on.

There is a perfect world where trading Julio over the next 2 weeks will happen, but a lot of things have to happen. It's not likely.

He needs a dominant July. Like an ERA in the low 2.00's type of month.

Even still, I'm in no mood to trade JT unless it's an overpay. We need cost controlled quality pitchers and JT is a good one.

I get the buyers premium. I don't think we are close.

I do think it's oversimplification to say buying a controlled guy now. There are only so many studs available. If the studs go at the deadline then there might be no studs in the winter. I think you have to make a deal that makes sense at any time. Logic would suggest a team like Houston would pay more bc they have real ws shot.

I really don't want any of these pitchers right now

Gleyber Torres and Clint Frazier

Given Torres is hurt, would anyone be willing to build a package of Dansby, Adams + for these two.

New York would laugh in our faces.

In reality, the Dansby/Gleyber swap isn't very off. Dansby has struggled in the bigs so far, but it's unlikely for that to continue for a long time. And they have similar prospect pedigree in general. That would leave the Frazier for Adams swap, which would get the laughter.

Just curious... If we offered Tampa Swanson, Allard, Touki, and Muller... any chance at getting Archer?

Here's how I value each by expected surplus value:

Archer 13

Allard 6
Swanson 7
Touki 2
Mueller 2

Usually in these trades the team trading for the present pays a 20-30% premium

So to get Archer, you would have to give up 16-17 wins. Your proposal is about what I think it would take to get Archer.

I wouldn't make that trade. Way too much.

Not sure, I would be tempted. the three young pitchers hurt, but we have enough in reserves. Swanson would be a PR blow, but on the field, Jo-gun is probably equal to Swanson defensively.. Offensively, I can't say one way or another. Archer, Folty, Newk, JT, Dickey the rest of the way is a mean rotation.

You're going to have to give up a good amount to get a pitcher the caliber of Archer with that much team control. I wasn't saying I would do that deal, but I would definitely think about it. With the way Camargo has come on at the MLB level (and his obvious improvement at the minor league level too), and our surplus of arms. I'd give up one of Soroka or Allard, but not both. Touki and Muller are lottery tickets for them.

Yeah, I don't think Swanson will get traded simply because of PR, but I think we should keep all options on the table. I think adding Archer and replacing Swanson and Camargo actually improves the MLB team overall.

I don't get all of the Archer love. Great stuff and shows flashes...but he doesn't consistently dominate like an ace. Tampa is in contention anyway and has said he isn't available. Talk about an overpay. His ERA is hovering around 4. He is very much like Julio, but with just better stuff.

The Archer love is understandable. It's the idea that the Rays will trade him that I don't get.

Rays don't trade SPs until they only have 1-2 years remaining. That means they are unlikely to trade Archer until after the 2019 season, or possibly at the 2019 deadline if they are completely out of playoff contention.
