Official 2017 Trade Deadilne Thread

The Archer love is understandable. It's the idea that the Rays will trade him that I don't get.

Rays don't trade SPs until they only have 1-2 years remaining. That means they are unlikely to trade Archer until after the 2019 season, or possibly at the 2019 deadline if they are completely out of playoff contention.

Yeah. In the past 3 years, among qualified pitchers he's 5th in K/9, 4th in IP, 28th in ERA, 12th in FIP and xFIP, and 6th in overall fWAR. He good.

I highly doubt they will trade him. I was just trying to figure out if my general thought of a likely package was around the ballpark.

He's the type of player that makes sense to torch the farm for.

Has a long term contract and a silghtly down season. Might be able to get him without giving up anyone from the top 5-7 on the farm. Even without those players the Braves can give a healthy package.

You're not getting Yelich if you're not giving up at least one top prospect. Likely two top prospects if not more. He's got a solid past, he's only 25 and under a very team friendly contract through 2021... no chance.

If the Braves insist on not selling a guy I want them to go after is Sean Doolittle. We really need a good lefty that can close. Doolittle is signed through 2020 so he isn't a rental and has a nice affordable contract.

Assuming BP is traded and some combination of Albies or Camargo is the new second baseman. S-Rod is up and healthy.

What is the Braves biggest need. If we stumble into a division title race do we need another back end bullpen type?

We aren't going to replace Kemp or Markakis. Just not sure where the need is to fill.

I suppose we could upgrade in the starting rotation by trading Garcia for a prospect and picking up someone like Stroman or Gray.

Stanton would be nice if we could work out something with his contract. Obviously Marcell Ozuna, but that isn't happening.

This trade deadline could be all over the place. We need to move some guys and will be looking to acquire some guys...it could be VERY crazy this year.

If the Marlins took lesser prospects for the Braves to take on Stanton's contract I'd do it in a heatbeat! Say if they'd do something like this I'd be all over trading for Stanton and his massive contract.

Braves trade:

Matt Kemp

Aaron Blair

Max Fried

Travis Demeritte

Marlins trade:

Mike Stanton

Stanton would be a huge upgrade over Kemp. Could you guys imagine an OF next season of Stanton - LF, Inciarte - CF, Acuna in RF. That OF Defense would be pretty good!

We are a fluky and pathetic 9th inning blown save from being a .500 team playing really good ball. I mean, I honestly have no idea what we are going to do.

I could easily see Garcia, Dickey, BP and some BP arms gone.

Speaking of the Marlins, I give up a lot for either Yelicu or Ozuna. Like, a lot. They're perfect to build your lineup around with Inciarte and Freddie.

I think Stanton and/or Yelich is a pipe dream. They would cost a boatload and the Marlins would likely give us an even higher cost being in the division. Sale of the club or not.
