Official 2017 Trade Deadilne Thread

Verlander if some of the contract is ate, isnt bad. He's been really good minus this year and 2014 for awhile. But certainly worry about all the miles on his arm. Given his contract, wouldnt imagine he'd cost a ton.

Fulmer would cost a ton, he's a legit 1-2.

The Ks aren't really there for Fulmer, though he has velocity.

The Royals are looking for a SP and a power-hitting position player.

Their farm pretty much blows, but do they have anyone worth taking if we send Garcia and Adams together?

Assuming Frazier is a 3.5 win guy right now, and the typical post-30 aging curve, we can project Frazier to produce about 9 wins over the next 4 years. At $10m per win, that's a 4/90 deal to solve 3b at the beginning of the Braves competitive window.

And no, he won't be giving a discount because he's a Braves fan or likes to scout prospects.

I'd be all for a Frazier deal at 3/45, or somewhere thereabouts. I want no part of a 4th year guaranteed though.

If we could swap Kemp for Verlander and may be some more cash, I'd probably do it. As long as we aren't sending significant prospects their way.

Happy the team is winning but just hope Coppy doesnt stupidly make a big trade.

But next 8 games will tell alot, Cubs are hot, and Dodgers are insane.

This! Smaller deals like Garcia+ for Profar and Markakis, Sims, Wisler/Blair for Verlander would help this season and next.

The Nats and dback series were gonna tell us a lot also. We're 4-2 in these series and the one of the losses was what a 3-run blown save.

In the contexts of this year it does. Mallex would be a solid addition to the club while Kemp is at best at replacement level.

What is the mallex love?

415 babip

He would not be playing for us

I agree we'd be better off with mallex in lf than kemp. But no way that happens. They like kemp and if we kept mallex you'd just be pissed daily to see him ride the pine.

We turned him into a top 50 prospect and ppl are mad. Are the rays going to get a top 50 guy if they trade mallex now?

This is true, Cubs series we avoid Q and Arrieta so that's nice, and Lester has been hit or miss, and face Montgomery and Lackey. Dodgers if we could find a way to split would be a miracle with how good they've been.

Verlander's struggles seem to be completely due to an elevated walk rate this year. He has a career BB/9 of 2.8, and it has ballooned to 4.4 this year. His stuff isn't deteriorating.

Is it bad framing by his catchers? Some mechanical flaw he is likely to iron out? Who knows, but if I'm going to bet on a guy bouncing back it will be a guy whose stuff is still good rather than a guy whose stuff is declining.

Down to the nuts and bolts....

Verlander is owed $56m for the next 2 seasons. Even in this down year, he will probably be a 2 win guy. Let's assume he's a 4 win guy over the next 2 years with upside for more. At $10m per win, his surplus value is about -$15m.

The Tigers are NOT going to ship Verlander off for a box of balls because he is a Tiger icon. They are much more likely to eat part of that contract to get something in return. If they ate about half his remaining deal, the Braves should be able to get him for a good but non-elite prospect.

My best guess is Verlander plus $30m for someone like Gohara. Maybe Newk instead if they want someone to plug into the rotation immediately?

I'd send them Kemp and Touki for Verlander
