Official 2017 Trade Deadilne Thread

Why is Oakland so stupid. The reliever market is in favor of sellers and they just gave two away. good grief.

Yeah they didnt even get much it seems on the surface from the Nats.

They could probably add another BP arm since they kept all their best trade chips still.

What in the world? That is a great trade for Washington. Two veteran high leverage RPs in this market controlled beyond this year for that? Damn.

Not sure who we would have had to give but I wish we had made this trade. We have had some good fluky performances out of the pen so far but we need reinforcements now that Freeman/Motte have turned back into pumpkins. Doolittle would have given us a good lefty closing option to pair with JJ.

Checked a Nats forum and even they think they barely gave up anything. Their pen is still horrific though. They practically needed to replace their whole pen.

hate to say it but that's a good trade for the gnats

Now watch them go back to the White Sox now that they're not so desperate and be able to get David Robertson for Soto and come out of all this with an absolute lockdown pen that's under control until Harper's deal is up.

they could probably offer Fedde and a minor piece for Robertson and have DRob/Doolittle/Madson with Gio/Max/Stras as a top 3 with their offense, pretty good team.

Nats are short on money now that MLB isnt paying them money in secret. I dont care what their TV deal is a team with 160 million payroll shouldnt be given 25 million and it certainly shouldnt be kept from the public when they do it.

I get why they would do it but I'll be upset if we trade teheran. His flyball tendencies is not going to work in sun trust.

Gray is traditionally a ground ball pitcher. His homer rate spiked as he was shaking the rust off but it's been much better as he's gotten back into the swing of things.

Yeah...I like that quality he has. Same reason we should consider holding onto Garcia if we can't get profar for him.

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of getting Verlander. I think he can be had for cheap (prospect wise) and think he's a good bounceback candidate.

I'd like to grab him, go to battle next year with:

Verlander
Julio
Folty
Dickey
Newcomb

That would be competitive, and would sell out 2019 - which is when I think we are ready to over take the division
