Official 2022 Offseason Moves Thread

Greinke for $13M plus IP bonuses is asinine.

There were 5 legit OF options on the market, and AA gave the worst one a 2 year deal. Not a huge fan, but it remains to be seen what the other guys get.

Yea, retaining Rosario is thus far my least favorite move of this off-season.

This looks like a move to placate the casual fans who are pissed that AA didn't give Freddie 7/220 or whatever it would've taken to sign him. http://www.chopcountry.com/forums/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=852042

Eddie is probably worth the price, but like you I would've preferred to pay a little more in AAV and get someone better. Soler was my preference from the start, and he would've had the exact same effect in terms of pleasing the fan base.

Soler hasnt signed yet. Maybe waiting for another move in front of him. I cant imagine him getting enough to break AA's bank and we all know that there has been mutual interest for years.

Lots of assumptions there.

I said earlier I was surprised we had to go to two years.

That said, they did get to see a decent amount of Rosario. So they have better data on him than most do. They have better data than they have on other guys.

AA seemed to feel that timing was very important. He wanted the team done by Friday. So it is possible he offered everybody a similar deal and just went with whomever was willing to make a decision now. Conforto, SOler and Castellanos are the only potential impact bats left IMO. I expect them to cost much more. Pham et al are within random chance to be better or worse that Rosario over the next two years.

Rosey might not have been our only OF move to be made. He could just be an expensive bench peice when team is fully healthy. That said, I don't see how another OF fits for the roster, but what do I know.

I have the Braves sitting at $155M-$159M (depending on how they account for buyouts) with a hole in the rotation and on the bench.
