I won’t say this is my preference but it is if Freddie really wants anything above $160M… which I’m sure he does.I prefer to keep FF, but I also think AA could do great things with FF's money going to other pieces.

One of the players SD traded is 9th in the Pirates system. I agree it was a weird move by SD when it was made though.

I think most people get antsy when guys like Marte and Canha come off the board because those are the backup plans to Freeman. It’s comforting to think “if Freeman signs with the Yankees, AA can make the team roughly as good by signing several of these backup plan players”. Losing Freeman is even worse if all the backup plans are gone.
I don’t think Marte in CF was ever really an option, and Canha was only one of several good options in the OF. Duvall is probably the cheap plan for CF, all of Freeman/Rizzo/Olson are still there for 1B, and plenty of options like Soler, Garcia and others are available for LF.
Definitely not time to even start worrying yet.
It is, and it isn't.
One of the things the guys were discussing on XM this morning is how it has been quite busy early on compared to recent years. The players that have signed so far - to their credit - seem to realize they're under the gun to an extent. If there is a roster/signing freeze when the CBA expires at midnight on Wednesday, chances are that if they haven't agreed to terms by tomorrow afternoon it's going to be awhile before anyone offers them a contract. Don't forget, none of the signings are considered official until the player has passed a physical - if that player happens to be on the other end of the country (or somewhere playing in a winter league) it will take a day for them to get to town, then 24-36 hours or more to see the team doctor and get results of MRIs, etc..
Chances are pretty good that anyone that hasn't agreed to terms by Monday evening will be floating around until the time camps are supposed to open (if there's even a new CBA agreement by then), then there are likely to be more than a few panic signings as time runs out quickly.
Kluber to the Rays for 8 millions is a steal.
You are right but he is a veteran and he don’t ask for a stupid Cole Hamels deal money. He will be 36 and hasn't been fully healthy for 3 years. Still a good pitcher though.
Us. Don’t believe me, don’t care, but they’re close and both parties are shooting for a pre-lockout deal. The best thing about having a blue checkmark on Twitter is I have folks who confide in me lol so no other details but I can share that talks have ramped recently.Freddie is getting 6 years from somebody
