Official 2022 Offseason Moves Thread

Saw he's very unlikely to accept the QO if he's offered it.

I hadn't seen or read that anywhere but I could have missed it. With Cohen's deep pockets it seems the likelihood is they'd offer both Conforto and Syndegaard the QO and be fine if they accept. The issue is at this point they have no GM.

2:48 Are the A’s trading us?

2:48 A few months ago I was thinking the A's would trade one or two of Chapman, Olson, Manaea, Bassitt and Montas.

I'm increasingly thinking that was a little too cautious of a prediction.
2:49 I don't think A's fans are going to care for how this offseason plays out, suffice it to say.

The A’s are a team that seems to overvalue low end MLB players who are cost controlled, so I’ve always wanted the Braves to cash in some of their surplus guys for impact players.

Well, I suppose it’s to be expected that after a highly unlikely run of success folks on this Baird would overvalue every current member of the roster.

Guys who were acquired at the deadline for nothing are still the same players they were a few months ago. Pitchers who proved to be mediocre during the season will still be mediocre in 2022.

The only things that must happen are bright back Freeman and Soler, or bats that will approximate their production. And then someone who can handle CF. Then another SP to slot in the 4 spot.

i’m not sure Soler’s value hasn’t legitimately increased a good bit. he was having a really down season but it was SSS, bad luck driven and he really turned it around, so i think his value has probably ticked back up at least a bit.

Soler may get 2/25 plus an option IMO. Castellanos will be looking at 4 or 5 in 90-100M range. What do you think Braves chances are getting either one?

He certainly played like one in Atlanta

99% of baseball projection is purely statistical. Anyone arguing otherwise is a moron.

There is that 1% of times though where you get a guy out of a bad situation / you scout something they changed / etc...

I think Soler needed out of KC in the worst way.

I really hope we give him a 3-4 year deal.

Castellanos would be interesting only after we know about Freemans contract but if Freeman wants to be paid to the moon it might be interesting to go Bryant/Castellanos (1b/DH).

If you were picking a LH OF based on career numbers Pederson would be the choice, but the only thing most Braves fans have seen of Rosario was him crushing with a .450 BABIP or whatever it is when you add in postseason.

Course Pederson used to murder RHP and not sure whether he'll do that again.

A year ago lots of poster here were screaming for Castellanos and several wanted Rosario. Dont recall Soler ever being mentioned. Pederson was a frequent mention. Today it seems the infatuation has grown enormously. It will really be interesting to see what comes out Monday (or Sunday since Im not sure) about option refusals, buyouts, non tenders, waivers, DFAs etc.

Someone will pay Soler like a 2-3 WAR player I think.

It's possible. AA liked what he saw with the analytics of Soler at the deadline and jumped on him. If Soler gets a nice contract it wont be only because of what he did in the playoffs. He had a .911 OPS in the second half with a .257 BABIP. It's a gamble hoping his second half was the real deal but it's not a crazy gamble.

I've long been a Soler guy.

Pederson was exciting when he crushed righties, but less so since he stopped.

I knew little about Rosario so had no opinion. I'd say a career 110 wRC+ Vs RHP is more than serviceable.

They are hyper focused on the new park project. They are pushing the chips into being good once that opens. They let Melvin walk out of respect not having to go through a harsh rebuild .

It’s gonna be gutted

Soler has been a good player and was better than his numbers and heating up. But let's be honest; he was also free and the Braves needed offense desperately.

They took a bunch of flyers of guys they could try and put in best position at no cost and it could not have worked out better for them.

Whether that means they want to marry any of those guys...I don't know.

I'd agree that Solwr seems like the most star worthy, but I bet watching him hit .190 wasn't all that fun so caution.

With the DH coming I feel that Soler will be well up the list of possible Braves signings. Maybe even at the head of the list but he wont be a budget breaking sign. Repeat of what everyone else sees, it all depends on Freddie.
