Official 2022 Offseason Moves Thread

I'm not a follower of the NBA, but don't they have a day every offseason where tons of action gets completed? I wish MLB was more like that each year.

There's not a day but in the NBA FA. Basically all the big names are signed in the first week. NFL is the same way.

That is artificial. Deals are completed in June, but cannot be announced until July (moratorium). Compare it to the J2 International signing day. The reason why deals are completed so early (1) max contracts - teams/players can’t have a standoff - and (2) salary cap holds - salary cap space is tied up with the player’s original team until either his rights are renounced or the player signs with a new team, so the process moves quickly.

It’s truly a race against the clock in the NBA to sign players.

These crazy deals make me think there won't be any play stoppage. Can't see the owners losing out on any losses of revenue (or fans due to strike) after shelling out this much cash

I actually agree it's been pretty mild. Everyone said Monday would be insane and there's only been Scherzer, Ray, Seager, Yates, Hudson, and Stallings.

Remember that the #BlueJays won more games this year than the team that won the World Series and already had a dynamic position-player core in place.

They now have Gausman, Berrios, Manoah and Pearson under control thru at least 2026, plus Ryu thru 2023. Dangerous team.

I think they have a very solid rotation.

Jays are the AL East favorite imo

AA should be able to put together a 90+ win roster pretty easily with the resources on hand, just like he always does. Then we just enjoy the show and hope they catch a few hot streaks in October, just like they did last season.

Taking as many shots as possible with a 90 win team is the best chance this organization has at winning championships. It doesn’t really matter how much the Mets spend because the Braves will always have that shot at the title due to never blowing their wad on a single season.
