Official 2022 Offseason Moves Thread

If FF did leave for a 3 or 4 year deal over our 5 year offer the casual fan would probably give AA a pass and blame FF. I agree that the Dodgers are smart and doesn’t like getting strapped to long term deals that often.

Anyone here consider that Freeman might much rather be in California with his family - and you know dang well his wife loves the idea Of having a new 150M to go play on Rodeo Drive with all the celebs..... she’s a young fake blonde model from south Florida after all...
( damn that sounded sexist )??

Y'all have a very different memory of how Mac left than I do. I remember it being bittersweet but hardly a surprise; I don't think anyone really thought we'd be re-signing him. And no one was mad at him because we didn't even make a offer other than to put a QO on him. I remember it as "good luck ol' buddy, let's see about Gattis."

Letting Freddie go is much more like if we'd failed to re-sign Chipper. Or, to put a much more dour light on Freddie's prospects, if Murphy had walked after '87.

I’ve been checking Twitter constantly this evening. I haven’t seen anything new in the last 2-3 hours. I’m pretty sure we’ll know Freddie’s decision by this time tomorrow

You're right. McCann was pretty bad in 2012 to the point he was benched in favor of Kevin Ross for the wild card game. 2013 was a slight bounce back but pretty sure we all knew it was the end, we simply didn't feel he was worth his asking price as he entered age 30.

IMO this is a completely different situation than with Mac, Smoltz, Glavine, etc.

They left after being here for years, and years after a championship. We just won the WS last season, are primed to make a run at being competitive for the next while, we need Freeman back

1B generally dont age well, if Dodgers are offering 5/140 or 6 years, then i cant blame AA for letting him go. He'd have to make some big moves to replace Freeman though if he did indeed leave.

Agreed, i'm not saying to give him an Albert Pujols contract. But he has earned a 5 or 6 year deal. Especially with the DH here

If the rumors are true we have offered Freeman a 5 year deal close to 30 per and he leaves then I won’t blame AA at all. I genuinely believe FF wants to come back but he wants the biggest contract he can find and he won’t do that here.

Have a feeling the wifey is making the decision really. Freddie got his ring.

Family first.

He just doesn’t wanna look like the bad guy. Him selling his Atlanta home and moving to Cali was kind of a hint.

I'd agree with not looking like the bad guy but its a business.

A large portion of the fans will be upset or bitch for the next few weeks but once Acuna hits his first leadoff homer they will forget.

I wont blame AA if Dodgers offer 6 years, 1B typically dont age well. But it really just depends what AA does with the extra cash.

I just don't like the idea of paying a first basemen big money past 30. Not when you can string together good production out of first base with a good GM.

I’d be ok trading for Olson and working out an extension with him. We don’t have anybody coming up at 1b and a rotating door there isn’t ideal.
