Official 2022 Offseason Moves Thread

Not sure that is fair.

More like Being a brave wasn't worth 30-50 million to him.

You're probably right but if he actually wanted to be a Brave he would have taken the money.

Easy for me to say but when you get to those numbers you have family generational wealth with either number.

I think Olson is about to turn 28.

So you could have had FF to age 38 (39 in sept) or Olson to age 36. Also getting 8 years of Olson for about the price of 6 years of FF, maybe less than FF.

After time for emotion to be removed (Shea who?) we just added MLB's third best 1B (FF first) and extended him and Olson is likely only to get better. AA must be pissed he didn't get Executive of the Year last season.

I love Freddie and always will. He should easily go down in the Braves HOF. But he deserves some criticism for how this has played out (or at the very least his agent does). Spring training is pretty much happening and he keeps waffling on his decision. How long can you wait? This is certainly 100% on Freddie's camp.

There is plenty of blame for both. The Braves missed a chance to lock him up before '21, and for his part make a choice already. Still would have rather had Freddie.

I'm not sure we'll ever know that is the case. For all we know, AA made him a big offer before spring training last year and Freddie decided to wait.

I don't think there is 'blame' for either side. Both did what was best for them, and ultimately I think both will be better off for it.

There is no guarantee he would have signed in 21 for a number of reasons. It certainly looks as if he was intent on playing the field at this point.

Point is FF could have been a Brave and chose not to be.

Anyone wanting to have FF for considerably more money is just being emotional.

AA probably offered this same rate deal to Freddie that he offered to Olson.

But Freddie seemed deadset on going to free agency.

So the Opening Day rotation:

Fried
Anderson
Ynoa
Davidson?
???

I think Morton can pitch opening day, right? Broken leg is easier to come back from than a ligament.

I still think we get a 4.

Then we have like 8 guys competing for number 5.

DOB says a source told him we have like $15 million to spend this spring. That is... not what we were all thinking.

I forgot about Muller. Then we'd just need Wright to be serviceable until Morton gets healthy.

If it comes down to it I want Soler and plug Wright in as the fifth starter. *ducks*

We have plenty of potential 4/5 options.

Makes absolutely no sense to spend our remaining resources on a position where we have internal options while we look at the OF and are barren.

DOB is rarely right about anything. We were willing to give Verlander 25 million along with making other additions, but now we only have 15 million available? Doesn't add up.
