Official 2022 Offseason Moves Thread

I don't think offering six years is dumb when he can in fact lengthen his career by DH'ing some, so yeah.

Let's just say the availability of the DH isn't the reason Cabrera and Pujols' contracts got bad at the end. They just lot the ability to hit at a high level. Freeman is more likely to lose the ability to hit before he's unable to physically play 1st.

The removal of the shift will slightly lessen the traditional ageing curve I think. Overall though there will be a severe degradation of bat speed.

If I was AA, I would go ahead and sign Soler too. Going 1-1/2 to 2 months with Heredia or Dickerson in the lineup is not an enticing scenario, regardless of how strong the rest of our lineup is. You can figure out a Rosario/Duvall platoon when that time comes.
I seriously believe if we sign Soler we are favorites to win.

While I agree that the Dodgers may be better on paper than the Braves right now... the same was true last year.

Put a good team on the field. Play well enough to make the playoffs. Make a timely addition or two at the deadline, and you always have a chance.

The Braves are Defending Champions, and definite contenders.

Dodgers lineup is probably better but not by a ton. Bullpens about the same, rotations around the same but we need Soroka healthy. Wouldnt say the gap is like it was in 2018 lol.

Doesn’t even have to be Soler. Conforto would work, and probably be a better fit. I’m just partial to Soler.

I don’t have a problem with Conforto but he is a Boras client and you know how that work. He even throw dirt to the Braves last year at the end of the season. Talking about Boras.

If ownership allows AA to do that I’ll never say another word about the Penny pinching ways of our owners again

Just gave 2 years to a backup catcher.

I'm just not sure where he plays. If you can get Conforto why not just get him to go with Duvall, Acuna and Ozuna?

If we can afford to have Conforto and Rosario/Duvall as a platoon then I'll really love liberty media for increasing the payroll.

My thought was 9 million to Rosario meant we were out of the business of signing anyone else. Probably add some sort of 1 million dollar vet innings eater or take a chance on a guy who is cut.

I think we are done. I think there will be a starter but it will be in the Anibal Sanchez of a couple of years ago variety. Love to be wrong though.

I tend to agree with this. We'll pick up a veteran starter who gets released late in spring, but no additional signings remotely in the $ range of Soler/Conforto.

I think we will get a starter. Who I dont know. Have no preference.

I still think Ozuna gets moved in a trade before start of season. I understand AA being unable to sign another meaningful OFer or DH until Ozuna gets moved. Perfect result would be trading Ozuna for a capable back end starter. Darvish type comes to mind but Im sure better options might be out there.

That is what I am hearing as well. Out of $$$$
