Official 2023 Playoff Thread

I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised, but I can't believe the number of people choosing the Phillies to win this series. I guess the pitching concerns are the main reason, but everyone essentially has the winner of this series winning it all.

MLB should just take the hit and stop scheduling Hernandez. If they can't fire him because of the union then they could just send him home and keep paying him. His salary is nowhere near the value of the goodwill loss he causes.

Only thing that worries me about the Phillies is Trea Turner being hot. He is always a pain in the ass when we face him.

Just have a feeling the Braves are going to be on a mission and are going to beat the hell out of the Phillies. Calling a three game sweep with three dominant victories.

Personally I'd feel better if this was a 7 game series. Just too much randomness that can creep into a 5 game series. And the Phillies are good, and have been playing their best baseball in recent months. We are the superior team, but they will be tough to beat.

As would I if we weren't set up for Fried and Strider to pitch four out of five games if the series goes the distance.

I think the uncertainty around Fried, Morton's absence and last year's loss causing unnecessary concern are the main culprits. Fried does seem to be fine and Snit confirmed as much yesterday, though you have to hope he's sharp tomorrow. Morton's situation is what it is and last year is the past. Two different teams. The Phillies bullpen is better, they have Turner and many of their guys are rolling, but the Braves have a healthy MVP, Ozzie is playing, Ozuna is back, they have a defensive star at catcher, and Fried and Strider aren't injured. It's going to be a damn fight.

Didn't realize TdA was that good at defense this season

Honestly, our starting pitchers and bullpen were among the worst in the game, especially after we clinched in Philly. I'm hoping that the 5 days rest allows the guys to get fresh and back to normal for this series. Hopefully the fans show up and shove it down the Phillies fans throats this weekend.

Phills will look like monkeys trying to **** a football.. I am in this boat too.. I think the offense is going to go off on these fools.

The Braves have much more uncertainty around their starting and relief pitching. Harper and Turner are historically Braves killers. Wheeler is typically very good against us, and Nola tends to pitch well against us in Philly. I don’t see what the grand mystery is that several objective observers would pick them to win a short series.

I think we sweep em. Finish them off right in front of their trash fans. 20+ runs over 3 games in a rout.

If the game comes down to Harper vs Iggy we are screwed and better be walking him.
Other then that as long as Stider and Max throw well we will be ok.

Justin Toscano reporting that he’s heard Wright and Chavez aren’t making the roster but Daysbel Hernandez is. That’s a bit of a shock.

I could see another Lefty if the Braves have one.. but I don't get Hernandez really. He is not very good.

Chavez has to be hurting or something for him not to make it. He hasn't been awful since being back.
