I think thats probably the hang up in a trade for Cease is AJSS and Waldrep. AA has said he doesnt wanna trade either one and the Sox and other teams want at least 1 of them. They both have a ton of potential so i can see why teams want them.
 
Well, if we want to keep them, they better
A.) Be ready to roll full-time by 2025
B.) AA is going to have to get over his fear of spending money in free agency on premier legitimate starting pitchers.

True. If he doesnt wanna trade his best prospects then hes gonna have to spend the money.
 
Well theres no such thing as a guarantee when it comes to SP. We will always be in this position if we dont develop young pitching. We dont need them to be aces we just need one of them to develop into a middle of the rotation starter in that time. That allows us to spend 30+ million on an ace whether that be Fried or someone else. I dont think AA has any fear of spending on premier legitimate SP its the amount of years required that turns him off. And he is right to be careful. I think I have actually changed my mind on the chances we re-sign Fried. I think he just wants to hit FA and then we just need to be close to the highest offer, much like Nola with the Phillies.

He’ll never sign an ace then bc guys want the years and security and there are teams willing to give it to them.
 
Multiple teams reportedly with offers north of $300 million for Yamamoto.

He may walk away from this with the richest pitching contract in the history of the sport.
 
Didn't Yamamoto say he wanted other Japanese players on a team he chooses? Id bet he signs with the LAD also.

I think we will look back on that as the right move. I think we do still have a decent chance of resigning Fried unless he has an insane year. I also think we could sign older aces who don't typically require crazy long term deals.
 
Everyone seems hyper focused on a game 3 starter. I think the Braves are fine with Morton as a game 3 starter. You don't pay a guy 20 million that you don't think can start a playoff game. What I think they are doing is building a pen with the depth to go with a bullpen game in the playoffs if need be. Most likely for a game 4. We could start with an opener then Lopez for one time through the batting order and then mix and match the rest of the way.

AA knows Snit is going to fall in love with a veteran reliever that has no business pitching in an important game in high leverage (the Chavez, Jackson Stephens, and Tonkin's of the world).

He's trying to Snit proof the pen.

This mix and match you speak of....Meh. Could...might...maybe it works. If that's the plan, the amount of money the Braves took on for the other trades make little sense. Stone throws for Kerr and a few other pen options may be brilliant. But i believe they should get the SP out there who removes the temptation for mixing and matching. I am also fully prepared for that not to happen.
