AJSS or waldrep would sting, but guess it will take a sting to get a quality player like glasnow

That's great and all but what do we do with the rotation in 2025 when Fried and Glasgow leaves? We can't be trading our best shots at having cheap pitching for a 1 year rental.

It's probably best to assume AA will follow his pattern, which isn't to give pitchers long term deals into their 30s.

Expect him to trade for position players and extend them, and sign short term FAs for 3 years or less. All in all I think it's a solid strategy.

Personally, I do too. Considering the unreliability health wise of just about any pitcher I agree. I wouldn't give them long term. They aren't made of what they used to be where going 7 innings without complaint was normal.

Okay, now start the screaming and the insults.

The only logical pushback you’ll hear to “don’t sign pitchers long term into their 30s” is from someone arguing the point that a championship caliber team like the Braves needs impact arms, and at some point they may need to overpay to get one.

While it’s a defensible position, I don’t think the Braves will be in that spot until next year when Fried walks. At that point overpaying for an impact arm may be justified.

By that time, two of SS, Waldrep, and Vines will have established themselves as reliable starters, so it won’t be necessary.😉

Trading AJSS or Waldrep for Glasnow sounds like an awful idea.

I saw Sonny predicted for 3/$66. That sounds perfect to me.

I’d love to pick up Sonny Gray but I’m not sure AA will forfeit the 2nd and 5th round pick and the international bonus pool money to do it. I have a feeling the Braves already know what Morton is gonna do and are just waiting till after the WS to say anything.

We haven't seen this Braves FO give any free agent pitchers long term deals. It's hard to believe that they'd break that to sign someone from Japan.

Especially since the organizational memory is that relying on free agent pitching is not a sustainable model.

I’d definitely be in on Lugo especially if he opts in which he won’t.

But if he’s a FA it won’t take a long term deal to grab him
