Grain of salt, but: Morosi said on Hot Stove this morning that he thinks the Braves are favorites to sign Gray and thinks there’s a chance they do so before Yamamoto because Gray is older and the Braves aren’t a team that waits around. Then Steve Phillips said Gray is a natural fit and that the Braves are definitely in on Yamamoto and considered a sleeper team on Ohtani.

If the Braves are interested then it’s on a 2 year deal so he can prove he can pitch again. I do think we’ll get Sonny Gray. I hope Yamamoto also.

Gray is a good Morton replacement. He’s an awful Fried replacement

Agree 100%.

I don't think we will buy a Fried replacement. Too expensive.

I think the hope is that the big 3 we had of Fried, Strider, Wright from two years ago is replaced by Strider, FA, AJSS/Waldrep.

I like the scouting report on the Asian pitcher but being so far from Japan and the KK experience....will we ever get an asian pitcher again?

I really like Gray and have wanted him for years. But I want him as a 3rd or 4th guy.

Gray would be the 3 this year. If AA doesn’t land another top guy this year he’ll probably shop for one next year.

With just $4MM of the deal allocated to this year, that allows them to keep spending on SP's before Ozuna and Freid probably leave next year.

Don't forget Minter will be gone after this year as well, he's going to earn a decent salary this year. So in that context it makes sense. But this is one expensive bullpen we've got here.
