Pleas God let it be us. I’ve been wanting Cease for a few years. I think we could lock him up to even with Boras being his agent.

Agreed.

But the White Sox seem like the type of stupid team that might value Elder more than others. So maybe Grissom/AJSS/Elder/ another lower level prospect gets it done....Then we can sign another backend starter for cheap.

this is normally the case with AA, but primarily on the FA front. Some trades have been leaked externally (think Murphy). I still doubt this happens, but trades are a different animal. AA can only do but do much.

This is overstated... we've had advance notice before plenty of times in the rumor department... Murphy, Olson, the Ozuna and Markakis signings (twice), the original Morton signing... it's more the small deals/signings that don't get leaked. However, plenty of big moves have leaked in the rumor department in the past.

Totally agree. And specifically with trades, most of the big ones have been rumored beforehand like you mentioned with Murphy and Olson. Braves can keep things more quiet when it’s just a free agent they’re talking to, but when it’s two teams in a trade, it can leak a lot easier for sure.
 
I don’t think AA wants a rental like Glasnow. With Fried and Morton gone next year he’s gonna want somebody controllable through at least next year to lighten the blow. He can probably extend Cease as well. I’m wondering what Soler will get bc he would be a big bat to add to the lineup and is already a fan favorite. We’d just need a good LH backup option for him.

I think AA need to start looking for Ozuna replacement. Teoscar Hernandez he just turn 31, Soler turn 32 soon and Ozuna just turn 33.

Ideally the Ozuna replacement is a combination of Ronald/Olson/Riley and we start to use the DH as a means to rest guys and leave them in the lineup.

I don’t remember rumors of Murphy since we already had D’Arnaud/Wild Bill tandem.

Olson rumors yes since Freddie opted to go into free agency and not extent.

Yeah we actually had 2 periods of Murphy rumors... early on in the off season and then again when it actually happened. Both times there was a lot of chatter on here not believing it because it didn't make any sense with our two catchers already here.

This was more than a week before he was traded:

The Murphy rumors started 11 days before he was acquired. AA shot the rumors down and then less than 2 weeks later we got him.
