I prefer to keep elder if we giving up AJSS. Elder isn't great, but he's good 5 that stays healthy

Rosenthal's sources say we don't intend to keep Gonzales, that he will be part of another deal. That to me smells like the White Sox with us eating a chunk of the salary.

A rebuilding team that could use him, assuming health, to eat innings and they can just decline the 2025 option with no buy-out attached, correct?

This is a relief, if true.
Lopez+Gonzales is not what I had in mind when I said AA needed to address the rotation.
If this is already being reported, does that not make it seem like that deal is imminent?

Gonzales being included in a trade to a rebuilding team for a starting pitcher makes sense. It's common for rebuilding teams to want a major league player at the same position as what they're trading. Even rebuilding teams have to field a complete squad. So I could see the Braves trading Gonzales and either picking up a chunk of the cost or else including a better quality prospect to get the rebuilding team to pick up the cost.
But Gonzales wont be anything resembling a central part of a trade for a starter. The guy has negative trade value, hence us getting Kelenic in the deal. But even so, it makes sense for him to be in a deal for a starter.

It does make it seem like AA is lining up the pieces for a deal he's currently working on. AA said the deal with the Mariners came together in a day. Getting pieces specifically to set the stage for another trade makes sense.

As of right now, we would be at the second level of the tax penalty…..I can honestly say I have no idea what the **** to expect from AA…..as usual
