Official 2024 Off-Season Thread!

In retrospect, giving up Hassel/Wood/Gore/Abrams for Soto was crazy. Imagine how good SD would be if they just kept them, but Preller does Preller things.

Braves sign Leury Garcia to a minor league deal

Sat out the entire 2023 season after being cut by the White Sox on the last day of spring training. Played ten seasons with all but a handful with the White Sox; two of those where he was either an everyday player or close to that. Has played a lot of 2B, SS, and 3B. Some OF experience as well. At this point, he'll be battling it out with Velazquez for a chance at a bench job.

Braves did not choose or lose anyone in the Major League Phase of the Rule 5 draft.

Braves did not lose anyone in the Minor League Phase, but did draft 27-year-old LHP Tyler Thomas from the Mets' system. Thomas was the Cubs' 7th round draft pick out of Fresno State in 2017. Traded by the Cubs to the Rangers for (wait for it) Jesse Chavez. Thomas was in the Texas system until 2023. Started the 2023 season in Independent League ball and later signed with the Mets and finished the year in AAA. Played in the Arizona Fall League. Good K numbers (304 in 270.2 IP).

Morosi:

Source: Eduardo Rodríguez and the DBacks have had advanced discussions about a multiyear contract.

A deal is not finalized, but the NL champions are among the finalists to sign him.

About the same as when they didn’t add a shortstop or LF last year.

It's wild that we were close to having that meltdown happen again if he didn't acquire Kelenic.

We still have the deepest lineup in baseball even if we were trotting Grissom out there.
