Curious to see the similarities/differences between the Franco situation and what got Felipe Vazquez a stretch behind bars. The Vazquez affair seems much worse from the initial description, but we'll have to wait on details.

Well that and as far as we know Franco happened in DR while Vazquez was here I believe.
I’m not excusing what may or may not have happened but as you say, the details will be interesting to see

Vazquez also admited to it when he got arrested thinking it was no big deal.

We don’t know all the facts and clearly he should be held responsible. But from what I understand he allegedly dated this girl when he was 18 and she was 14 (with the mom and girl both lying about her age — mom sounds like a real piece of work). I don’t think he’s a predator and this type of situation happens in every high school all the time.

Some punishment is appropriate, but I don’t think he needs to exiled by any means.

If this is the case, it seems like a nothing burger. 4 years is not really much of an age gap as they legitimately could have been in high school at the same time. Obviously I would not want my daughter dating an 18 year old at age 14 though.

Sounds like a few minors are making claims so this definitely is not going to end well for Wander

of course... once the flood gate opens, all the opportunists jump in. Sounds like the original offense was from an opportunist as well. Athletes need to make better decisions and steer clear of the money grabbers (impossible, I know).
 
I don’t know any details of the accusations. But I have found a fool proof way not to be extorted by a 14 or her mom. Don’t stick your Willy in a 14. So some freaking restraint. Even as an 18. I wasn’t trolling middle school for tail.

It goes both ways - maybe he's disgusting as hell but the girls are also jumping on opportunities. Either way, it sucks for the Rays who had themselves a true franchise staple and superstar. Maybe he returns unscathed, but I'm thinking this is about to go down in flames.

Some interesting things from former Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria. He regrets passing on Jason Heywood in the draft. He fired Joe Girardi for telling him to sit down and shut up during a game. Says he sold the team in part because of Jose Fernandez's death. Talks about convincing him to not get a high speed car for obvious reasons. Didnt even know he owned a speedboat. Loria said Jeter had the GM everybody on day 1 and then fired the GM the next day.

The obvious point here is that they lied about her age lol. For instance, if she told Wander she was 16 and her mom confirmed it. How would Wander know it was a lie? If that was the truth, nobody says a word.

I mean, I don’t think anyone knows the full story right now. It’s all internet rumors right now.
 
Man how much more scary would the Dodger$ be if they would have resigned one (if not both) of Belli or Seager??? I can't wait for the Braves/Dodgers NLCS this year.. it is going to be a battle and great baseball..

Hector Gomez tweeted that according to people with direct knowledge of the investigation they don’t think he will ever play again.

He’s made less than $1m of his $180m contract and Fangraphs ranked him 2nd in the trade value list. What a waste.

he would lose that money too. although, baseball contracts are like steel binding agreements and the player can do whatever he wants afterwards..
