Official CBA Negotiation Thread

People always forget there's a third side in these things, the fan's side. That's the side I'm on. If this dispute messes with the season then I'll pin the blame on both the players and the owners. Watching very rich and super rich people squabble over how to divide up my money is not a good look. The real losers in that scenario are the fans.

People tend to forget it’s the fans not owners and players who pay for these higher ticket prices and broadcast deals.

Neither the players or owners are going out of their way to lookout for amateur or minor league players, or as mentioned earlier in this thread, the stadium workers. I don’t have any sympathy for any of these negotiations except for those that don’t have a seat at the table.

You could see this coming after watching the back and forth between Manfred and the players discussions about the 2020 season

Manfred honestly thinks we're all idiots. That letter reads like MLB offered all of that with no demands from the players other than to sign a new CBA. Does he honestly expect everyone to ignore the fact that there were no doubt concessions MLB demanded?

It's hard to evaluate when you don't know even one of the alleged owner demands.

Can some one really simply explain to me what it is the players actually want that’s so far off base? I am not on their side here- I just don’t understand the fundamentals causing the rift....

It's all about money. Owners want to keep more of it. Players want a bigger part of the pie, or realistically want to know what's all in the pie and still get a fair percentage.

I did find it interesting in Manfreds statement, that the owners offered the universal DH, and a draft lottery system similar to other major sports to help prevent tanking.

I've always thought Tony Clark is really bad at his job.

And I think Manfred is probably the worst commissioner of all time, maybe of all sports

When two buffoons are leading the negotiations I am not optimistic

Manfred has made the owners money but has been absolutely toxic for the game.
