Official official offseason thread

The Braves also need someone on the bench not named Hilliard who can handle CF. That man will preferably bat right handed so Harris can be rested 1-2 games a month vs LHP. Heredia should have been that guy, but hopefully AA has another option in mind.

Lol if you think Snit will rest Harris 1-2 games a month.

Harris has the unfortunate luck of being young. Thus, to Snit, "if he's available he's gonna play"

i can see one more outfielder but not two. Unless we're trading Rosario or Ozuna, just not enough roster spots.

Right now, we're probably looking at C- Murphy, 1B- Olson, 2B- Ozzie, SS- Arcia/Grissom (other on bench), 3B- Riley, LF- TBD- CF- Harris, RF- Acuna, DH- TDA. Bench- Ozuna, Rosario, Grissom/Arcia, Tromp?

I think AA will make a move or two since the Dansby situation is settled.

There is probably not a single contract so far this off-season that I regret the Braves not offering.

There's a couple i wouldnt have minded. Rodon at that AAV isnt really awful but has injury concerns. Could be a great deal if he stays healthy. Overall, i agree.

I know he always hurt but Mondesi have 1 year left of his contract and Bobby Witt jr probably took over SS. New GM too maybe looking to move him.

What's funny is that the Cubs probably got pretty good value overall in this market. I think most expected Bae to closer to 200.

But overall, it's still a bad contract. Bae getting 25 million in AAV is ridiculous.

7-25 is better that 11-27 for Turner.
Those extra 4 years are going to be rough.

Ken Rosenthal wrote yesterday that we’ve shown some interest in Michael Taylor. Not sexy at all, but he seems like a good option for what is basically the Heredia role (minus the swords, unfortunately).

Jesus…Michael Taylor? Fck are we doing here? How much were those WS rings? Liberty is clearing pocketing the revenue…period

Taylor makes sense as a 5th OF, but I don’t understand why the Braves want him at $4.5M when they didn’t want Heredia for less than half that. I still contend Heredia wasn’t used properly and could have been more valuable as a Brave than he was.

Yeah Heredia wasn’t used properly. So as of now we’ve gotten Murphy and a so so bullpen arm? And the FA market is now slim pickens

I said for a while that it was likely Morton’s money came from the money Swanson turned down. Several articles explained how the Braves were already a Top 5 payroll and were already very close to the luxury cap. We all held out hope for a big signing like we always do, but it was always clear there may not be much money left.

Now we hope AA gets Conforto so he and Murphy can take the bulk of the LF/DH PAs.

One of the things I actually didn't mind Snit doing, was not using Heredia. I saw enough of him. Between the defensive blunders and not much offense.

He can be hired as part of the coaching staff if we need a cheerleader.

They were in on deGrom until it went to 5 years. They have the money they just aren’t gonna throw it away like several teams have this offseason. Hopefully he strengthens the bench and can get a LF.

I wouldn't have minded Harris getting a day off vs lhp, but forget sitting him vs every lhp

Yes, we can all read the “they were in on the bidding” articles if it makes folks feel better, but the end result is what it is.

When every single player signs for a contract that’s “too expensive” that means the value of FAs has increased. Every single contract can’t be “too expensive”…by definition.

I’m curious what the consensus “$ per WAR” will be after this year’s free agency.
