Official official offseason thread

I am not sure Amed Rosario will be trade. Cleveland is trying to win right now.

They have Tyler Freeman already ready to take over. He's a plus defensive SS. They also have 2 more top SS prospects who are ready or hear ready. They won't be keeping Rosario or giving him a QO, so it seems pretty likely that they'll trade him.

We should be on him or iglesias then

Good writeup by MLBTR: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/11/offseason-outlook-atlanta-braves-11.html

For those hanging their hopes on that "Top 5 payroll" promise to help fill SS: "...the Braves already rank fifth in projected 2023 payroll. Their luxury tax number is projected by both Cot’s and Roster Resource between $222MM and $228MM, with Cot’s pegging that third-highest in the majors."

So...they are already a Top 5 payroll with a huge empty slot at SS. I suspect the plan is Rosario/Ozuna/Contreras at LF/DH, and some low end or internal option at SS. Swanson's money may have been spent on Morton.

But...nothing would shock me.

But isn't that Top 5 payroll number prior to other teams making their free agent signings this off season? There is no way the Braves are going to be ahead of Mets, Yankees, Dodgers, Phillies, Padres, and maybe even other wild cards like Astros, Giants, Red Sox. The Braves will for sure have a top 10 payroll, but I'm not seeing top 5 this year, but I could be surprised.

We're 2nd at 194 right now, but as you said obviously alot of other clubs havent spent yet. But there's really maybe like 8 guys who are gonna break the bank this winter: the top 4 shortstops, Judge and DeGrom, Rodon and Verlander. There's an outside chance we're top 5. 194 is probably 5-6 if we didnt do anything else this winter.

didn't Ga break some sort of voting record this mid term. Has DickFred made an apology yet for supporting that misinformation if there was?

Of course not. Jim Crow 2.0 was Bidens line as well. Newsflash Delaware and Colorado (his home state, and the place they moved the game to) both have voter id, and less time to vote.

Man, fk your political views 😂😂.....but I agree on this. Plenty of other Jim Crow things to discuss. Elsewhere.

Anyway here is FG saying we are the best team returning as of now. enjoy.

Being PROJECTED for 93 wins with a huge hole at SS (their depth charts only include 70 games of Arcia producing ~1 WAR) speaks to just how talented this roster truly is. Bringing Swanson back probably bumps the projections up to 95+ wins, and even just assigning 150 games to Arcia probably bumps the projection to 94+ wins.

Speaking of Arcia, his projected line of .249/.315/.407 represents roughly MLB average offense. I would not be surprised at all to see him as the everyday guy because...

"The Braves’ biggest hindrance to improving their roster this offseason is their payroll, which is already butting up against the competitive balance tax."

Saw a tweet about Washington saying Grissom is getting really good at SS in their time together. Sorry, I can't find it now... it was one of the big mlb guys
