Official official offseason thread

Forgive me guys, the saints blowing that game and putting a bow on the season has me wanting to argue this morning haha

So on the clearance aisle at SS, we have him iglesias and andrus.

Last year's slash line...
Iglesias .292/.328/.380
Andrus .249/.303/.404

Fangraphs def value for last season...
JI 5.1
EA 6.1

Steamer for 2023...
JI 1.5
EA. 1.9

Do you bite on one of these to pair with Arcia?

I think I'd get one of these 2 and conforto.

You state "I'm sure", and use that as fact to say I'm wrong haha

"Matt Gelb of the Athletic reports the Padres made an offer which topped the one Turner accepted from Philadelphia. Specifics of the proposal aren’t clear, but Gelb adds the gap was wide enough San Diego’s offer would’ve translated into more money even after adjusting for California’s higher state income tax rate than Pennsylvania’s."

ETA... and on degrom, he didn't even let the Mets attempt to match or exceed rangers' offer

…yes $300m is at least close to maximizing earnings for Turner. it was the highest predicted amount. it is absolutely close to maximizing. you definitively stated Turner didn’t come close which you have no clue about and chances are he came very close.

there’s nuance in what’s been said about guys taking/not taking lesser contracts that you’re ignoring.

i have no doubt deGrom wanted to leave NY but he absolutely got close to max dollars possible.

That never happens - enscheff

Has to be the weakest flex I've seen in a while...

Guy takes a comparable deal to be on the opposite coast, and that proves guys take hometown discounts...

So yeah, let's keep dreaming on guys like Turner taking a 3 year deal with the Braves because they had a Justice jersey when they were 7. Solid logic!

What a stupid comment

No one had a justice jersey at 7. It was Maddux glavin smoltz or one of the jones.

I think I'd get one of these 2 and conforto.

I believe this was the plan the moment Swanson turned down the extension offer and AA gave $20M to Morton.

I've been saying so for about 3 months now. Worse, Arcia is the guy and they run Rosario/Ozuna out in LF because they are up against the cap, but I really hope that's not the course of action.

Now that the season is really over let’s discuss

What you think one of those SS and conforto cost?

Padres are pretty much wanting Tatis gone. AA has probably turned over every SS stone in baseball to this point. He knows what it will cost in trade and what the FA’s want. I’m curious where he ends up.

That's fun to dream about. What's tatis' surplus value? Can you even calculate it with his injury/PED concerns?

He will end up in San Diego… no one’s giving them enough to be happy with a trade. Come on. Tatis isn’t getting traded unless San Diego wants to get peanuts on the dollar

I didn’t say I wanted him just that they are wanting him gone.

I would love to have him. But he’s not getting traded anywhere anytime soon

They were hard after Turner so I’d imagine if they got him the chances would have been higher of them trading Tatis. Preller in every interview seems like he’s tired of him.
