Honestly i'm shocked Joc got the QO....he seems like a guarantee to accept.

Padres in agreement on Robert Suarez on a new deal, per Morosi. 5 years/46 million, with an opt out after year 3. Not too bad, wouldnt have gone 5 years though.

Shocked at Joc getting a QO

Not sure if i'm more shocked that they offered him the QO or the fact that he hasn't accepted it yet....

Regarding Bassitt, i'd be tempted to take the QO. 1 year / $19.6m and then hit the free agent market next offseason without the draft pick attached. It would definitely be a bet on himself to repeat what he did this season. I guess it would come down to what his agent feels he can get overall.

He's 34 next year though. This is his best/last chance for a multi year deal

Bassit's coming off a very good year. This is his chance to cash in and it's not a deep SP market. Think he can easily get 3-4 years at around 14-17 per.

Stupid rumor on twitter going around Braves may shop Acuna. Same guy said it's same source that Braves would go after Olson when everyone knew 1B would be Freeman or Olson.

That’s not happening. I wouldn’t even know where the starting point for Acuna would be.

Basically 5 times what Soto went for. Given how friendly his deal is, but yeah i dont even wanna imagine what we could get.

No doubt he can get a multi year deal. But 1 year at $19.6m then getting 3 years at $15m + he still comes out ahead. But he’d have to not suck. As I said, it’s a risk he’d be betting on himself
