I think one of the things that has really hurt us as far as the SS situation goes is the fizzling of Braden Shewmake. I think when he was drafted the Braves had an eye on him being the heir to Dansby. The guy was the 21st pick of the draft and you generally don't spend that pick on a reserve. With Shewmake not even looking like a future backup (he's 25 and has struggled since low A) our options have dwindled.
Honestly, having Grissom working out with Washington smells of desperation. Grissom wasn't a great defensive second baseman, he could be downright painful at SS. I think it shows they understand that Arcia isn't a player that should be starting on a contender.
Our outlook at SS is pretty grim.
