Official official offseason thread

The bench is going to be something like TDA, Luplow, Adrianza/Arcia, and someone awful. Folks hoping for someone like Profar are barking up the right tree.

Giants released INF Tommy La Stella.
La Stella was designated for assignment last week and now the Giants will officially eat the final $11.5 million remaining on the back-loaded three-year, $18.75 million contract that they signed him to in February 2021. The 33-year-old battled a range of different injuries during his time in San Francisco and slashed just .245/.297/.380 in 136 total games played between 2021-2022.

Correa reportedly talking to another team now. Would be awesome if that was us. But imagine it's Minny.

AA could smell blood in the water. If the Mets are trying to balk I could see Correa taking a short term deal high AAV deal from us for a little revenge. I’d say it’s us or Minnesota.

Sam Hilliard may be a dark horse candidate this year. He showed up on a list of players who could benefit from the shift ban, so I looked a little closer.

He had an awful year in the majors last year, but his BB rate went up for the 2nd consecutive season to 11.5%.

His K rate went down from 36% to 28%, and he had his lowest BABIP season of .256 compared to .282 average of the 2 previous seasons.

He had an OPS of over 1.074 OPS in AAA albeit in the hitter friendly PCL.

I have higher hopes for Hilliard than I do for Rosario.

I think we're sleeping on Rosario. From 2017-2020 his slash line was .281/.317/.493/.810; the OPS+ was 114. His per 162 projections those years were 32HR/103RBI/96R. Once he got healthy with us in 2021, he OPSed .903, OPS+ 134, and of course was gold in the playoffs.

Last year he was trying to hit when he couldn't see. If I recall the surgery repaired a hole in his cornea. I do not know if his sight is now 100%, but if it is, I would expect him to return to historic .800 levels, certainly against RHP. And he's not a gold glover, but he's not a butcher, either. A 2-3 WAR player. He's only 31. I think we could see a significant rebound from Rosario, which would solve the left side of the LF problem.

Andy Martino with SNY TV is reporting the Mets are really frustrated and are thinking very seriously about walking away from the Carlos Correa deal.

If the Mets really do walk away from Correa, which I won't believe until I see it confirmed, I would expect them to swoop in and trade for Reynolds.

Pirates reportedly offered Reynolds 6/75. If that's accurate and the previous report that they were 50M apart was accurate, that means he'd be looking for an extension around 6/126, 21M per, which would be right in AA's wheelhouse haha.

yeah, I would do 6/126 for Reynolds.. I don't see enough bullets in our farm to get him though.. Mets will get him and extend him for 6/226 somehow.

Mets dont wanna trade their prospects. The reason for their high payroll is to allow the farm to develop, so they can replace their high paid vets with top prospects in the coming years. If they walk away from Correa, probably just go with Escobar/Baty but im not buying there's another team in the mix. I've seen that too many times from Boras.

Mets werent mentioned for him, they dont wanna trade from their farm right now.
