Official official offseason thread

yeah, I would do 6/126 for Reynolds.. I don't see enough bullets in our farm to get him though.. Mets will get him and extend him for 6/226 somehow.

I mean if we offered something like Grissom, Anderson, and the two P's we drafted last year and others. Maybe throw in Rosario to offset some money. We could probably make a big offer, but we'd have like literally nothing on the farm for the next 3 years lol.

if they release him, then he is a good pitcher for league min.. I wonder if any team would have the balls to snag him..

He was involved in the sticky stuff crackdown. But yeah you're getting a Cy Young pitcher for nothing. Can you handle the PR backlash that comes with signing him? It actually makes sense for the Dodgers to keep him given what they've lost in the rotation, and with Buehler out most of the year.

We should absolutely make a play for Bauer. If we can keep Ozuna on the team we can dam sure roll with Bauer. He’s really freaking good.

I could totally see the Mets lose out on Correa and snag Bauer.

Mets pitching is fine. If they lost out on Correa, not sure what bat they'd try to add. Most of the top ones are off the board. The PR nightmare for Bauer in NY Is too much to risk.

Andy Martino with SNY TV is reporting the Mets are really frustrated and are thinking very seriously about walking away from the Carlos Correa deal.

Appears the Twins are back in on him:

The Twins and Correa have “some momentum,” per Bowden, who adds that Minnesota appears more willing to take on some risk regarding Correa’s medicals than either the Giants or the Mets. The Twins’ most recent offer to Correa was a reported 10-year, $285MM pact, though that came before the Giants blew them out of the water with a 13-year, $350MM bid. It’s unclear whether Minnesota has made any alterations to that offer.

Is the issue whether they can get injury insurance on the contract? He isn't going to voluntarily walk away from that kind of money if the arthritis kills his game. No team is going to want to be contractually obligated to pay a player that can't perform due to injury, but insists he won't retire.

If Cohen's whole deal is he has the most money and just wants to win, then why not just give CC his money? It's just going to make CC mad.

If they do not get CC I don't think they are better than last year. Probably a little better pitching b/c DeGrom threw so few innings, but their main guys are old and back end was solid last year. Foreign sign may be SP or RP. Offense is arguably worse given their offense last year, BABIP, older players.

I have to think Cohen just pays the guy.

If the Twins get him great.

Doubt AA has the money to offer 2/100.

Luke Jackson in discussions with the Giants about a deal per Zack Klein. Not too surprising after the bullpen moves we've made this winter. So long partner.

I think we're sleeping on Rosario. From 2017-2020 his slash line was .281/.317/.493/.810; the OPS+ was 114. His per 162 projections those years were 32HR/103RBI/96R. Once he got healthy with us in 2021, he OPSed .903, OPS+ 134, and of course was gold in the playoffs.

Last year he was trying to hit when he couldn't see. If I recall the surgery repaired a hole in his cornea. I do not know if his sight is now 100%, but if it is, I would expect him to return to historic .800 levels, certainly against RHP. And he's not a gold glover, but he's not a butcher, either. A 2-3 WAR player. He's only 31. I think we could see a significant rebound from Rosario, which would solve the left side of the LF problem.

Rebounds from Rosario and Ozuna would be totally reasonable outcomes.
