Official official offseason thread

I don't understand why Atlanta wouldn't have been able to offer a deal to Duvall or Pollock for 1/7.

Heck Anderson is getting 3 million. He was a good buy low guy if his shoulder healed. I would have rather jumped on that deal over Duvvy for 7.

But like Deester said, I doubt we have any room for payroll other than a few million tucked for the deadline.

If we are talking the RHH side of a LF platoon, here are xwOBAs of the relevant guys:

Pollock, AJ .357
Grossman, Robbie .342
Duvall, Adam .328
Luplow, Jordan .279

The worst option is currently on the Braves roster. LF is likely going to have the worst production in MLB.

Luplow hit lhp quite well up until last season. He had a .155 babip vs lhp last year. Obviously AA thinks he will rebound. Guess we'll see if he's right

I think AA is interested in a salary dump trade with Ozuna or staying put and seeing if some combo of Hilliard/Luplow/Rosario/Ozuna could fill LF until July.

Odds are we’ll be talking about trading for a LF then, but I get seeing what you have before adding more resources to the position.

They have $3m to toss at Pillar if he can make the MLB roster, so I'm not sure things are as tight as you're suggesting.

I also wouldn't be surprised if they offered Anderson a similar deal, and he opted for the MLB guarantee instead.

I know we have now Jordan Luplow for LF but I think Ramon Laureano for LF is a under the radar move. He is 28 years old and great outfielder with a great arm. I like Laureano/Rosario platoon and Luplow to the bench.

No matter what any of us think, it's bargain bin time at this point anyway. The suggestion Matt pointed out as well is more about what the Braves will be able to do should there be unforeseen disasters we don't take into account. (LF is one of those).

With all of the OF options that we have signed off the scrap heap, we are at least building up some organization depth. It appears that Ozuna will be relegated to strictly the DH role. It doesn't bode well IMO for Rosario. If he struggles mightily early on, he may be benched.

So….. if the Twins are willing to trade Arraez for controllable arms- per MLB news - what’s the potential cost of that ? And would you do it ?

Per baseballtradevalues, it might cost Ian Anderson and Bryce Elder. With our limited depth in SP's, we shouldn't, but I kind of wish we would.

Eh not really. Maybe for Bryce sure. But he's all batting average - terrible power, walk rates, etc. His positional versatility is a plus but the Twins are clearly selling high (as would I).
