Official official offseason thread

Yeah. I think that happened longer ago than I was thinking. Probably before profar broke in. Why am I thinking something wacky happened with him. Might have to hit the google engine.

Profar is the guy that served up that right hook to Bautista about 6 years ago.

They’ll address LF either at the deadline or next offseason when Rosario is gone. They’ll probably be able to eat some of Ozunas deal with only 1 year remaining then. We got a competent LF then the sky’s the limit.

Monster roster outside of LF. Still makes it confusing we're basically punting LF.

imo LF isn’t confusing. they’ve already sunk money into Rosario and Ozuna. Braves are stuck with them. instead of sinking more money into it right now, they’re going to see if one of them can rebound or a platoon can work. i think if one or both weren’t here, things would be a lot different. but since they’re stuck with them, they basically have to see if they can get anything out of them. if not a deadline move will be made

Thats an absolute monster roster.

Seems lowish on Acuna and Harris and Strider but that may be lack of recent data.

Seeing LF that low makes the Malloy trade just look a bit ...off.

Mondesi to the Red Sox!

Who’s giving a contract to Elvis Andrus?

Elvis Andrus on his current trip through free agency: “I mean yeah, no teams have made me an offer yet, but sooner or later I know they’re going to crumble.”

I say a long time ago we may have a chance to offer a minor league deal.

I like this graph. We need to do an over/under thread by position using this chart and whoever picks the most correctly gets to name the board for 2024.

Good idea...

Murphy/TDA at C only: under
Olson: under
Riley: under
Albies: over
Riley: under
Grissom/Arcia at SS only: under
Rosario/Ozuna/Luplow at LF only: under
Harris: under
Acuna: over (well over)
Ozuna/TDA/Murphy at DH only: under

I think several are spot on given 600+ PAs, but went with under because injury would make them accrue a lower total value, and some of them will be replaced at the deadline.

I think Acuna and Albies are going to soundly beat these projections, and Acuna may come close to doubling his.

I wondered if Mondesi might make sense as a buy-low guy for us. Immense physical talent, but any time you see that many injuries you have to wonder if they've sapped some of the underlying talent or athleticism. Theoretically we have the depth in Arcia and Grissom to accommodate the inevitable Mondesi injuries, but it's probably harder to pull the trigger on a Mondesi trade when you're trying to win a World Series and reliability is of paramount concern.

Curious. It was insinuated that the Braves stopped him from playing in the WBC. But he's playing in the Venezuelan winter league?
