Official official offseason thread

Not a fan of guys acting like they won the World Series after a HR, but I'm glad some folks like it and makes them want to watch.
 
Not mentioned in this thread is that Acunas family was apparently attacked by fans in the stands later in the game. Fans were throwing beer cans/cups at them.

Acuna announced that he is retiring from Venezuelan baseball.

Ummm apparently they were getting beer thrown on them. I’d be hostile too.
 
Good comparison. Only thing I worry about with Grissom is the defense.

Comparing Grissom to the 2022 version of Swanson is pointless. He won't be that good and neither will Swanson in 2023. It was a huge outlier season both defensively and offensively for Swanson. Swanson will still be a better defender in 2023 but I do think there is a good chance both players are will be comparable offensively.
 
The other thing this reminds me of is how frustrated we all were with Dansby the first few years when he was not meeting our expectations offensively.

The team played him up big time until it became obvious that he wasn’t quite ready for the hype.

You could have said comparing anyone's first 150 plate sample to another players first 150 plate sample is pointless. It is fun to do it.. but it really doesn't tell us much


to prove this point.. look at 2011 Mike Trout.
