This.I never said anything about it being a "good trade". You guys are in such a hurry to pounce on people you read things into their posts. Moreno obviously sold Trout on the idea that IF he'd take Arte's $425 million that he'd keep spending and trading whomever he needed to until he got Trout into the playoffs. There's simply not enough talent left on the board to do that now by simply writing checks, and there aren't many better options potentially available next winter that will get you any closer.Would it make sense to wait until next year to try to sign Turner to a market-value deal rather than giving Donaldson $100 million now? Sure. Can you guarantee me that either of those guys is healthy next December? Nobody's arguing about a single one of the precious projections and the irrefutable math that surrounds them. The question is, y'all understand that even Trout is subject to regression too, right??? He'll be 29 this time next winter - exactly how much longer do those models have him providing this level of production? Is he somehow the first player that's immune to the aging curve? Y'all realize he's going to be the same age as Madison Bumgarner this time next winter, right? Remind us exactly how y'all feel about him again. Trout hasn't played more than 140 games since 2016 - is that mysteriously going to change? If they expect to contend while realistically expecting him to perform at this level - based on every model the numbers community crows about - they need to start surrounding him with a lot better talent, AND SOON (not 3 or 4 years from now when he's Donaldson's age).
