that would be a team friendly deal...I have some doubts the Braves are going over 150M

I still believe they have the funds. We know the Braves offered at least 3 years for JD and possibly 4. If they offered 20 a year then that would have put us over that number.

I agree with some others that this team is better than last year, minus the cleanup hitter. Barring a trade from the bullpen, deepest bullpen we've had in awhile. Rotation has a pretty solid top 4, 5th spot is a question. Pache should come up sometime in May to July.

Cleanup hitter, whoever/whatever it is, has to happen, otherwise Freddie might break Bonds walk record.

Also, word is we offered 3/75 with a 4th year option to make it to 3/80 if option was declined, so i dont blame JD for taking more money. Especially since he can DH in years 3-4 if he breaks down badly.

4/$72 million might just get Ozuna tomorrow - the question is, would AA go that far and then have to find something to do with Waters? Follow that up with a 1 year deal for Holt and go get 'em.

That would assuredly be the easiest way to "fix" this for 2020, but would that be the way he wants to play it?

Can't see that as a "bad" option - gives Riley and Waters another full season in Gwinnett, and you could look for a package deal for a TOR starter or long-term 3B during the season that you consider including them both in a package for.

Braves do like Marcell Ozuna. It’s believed they at least touched base with Castellanos too, but Ozuna seems more likely. They need middle of order bar to replace Donaldson. Might be easier to go the free agent OF route than fashion blockbuster for superstar 3B Arenado or Bryant.

does someone pay Heyman to write this trash? what insight did he just provide. smh

He has to post something so they keep sending him a paycheck - think of it as the same thing as most people around here trying to look busy while they spend half their workday reading things here and on MLBTR.

3/45 was Ozuna's projections before the off-season. I see nothing that would change that significantly. 3/50 with a 4th year option and 5 million buyout probably lands him.

Castellanos was projected for 4/60. That seems about right since he has no draft pick attached and he's the younger player.

The projections for players so far this offseason have been pretty close on a bunch of players.
