Official Offseason Thread

FWIW the Denver Post: Quoting an article from 3 days ago: A trade of Nolan Arenado becoming more likely every day 3 teams in the fore Texas, St Louis and Atlanta. This is not new info but at least it isn't coming from CNN

AA may not have pursued JD very hard if he thought he had a legit shot at Arenado. The short term high AAV salary could be intriguing if we didn’t have to give up much.

so your argument is that Arenado may waive his opt-out in order to play for someone else other than Rockies, which he's able to do in 2 years anyway should he NOT waive his opt-out?

why would he sign his long-term, top-dollar deal in the first place?
why wouldn't he just wait and maintain complete control over his situation instead, and not potentially sacrifice a single dollar?

Arenado would have to be compensated, monetarily, to waive it. it's as simple as that. you say stuff like this has happened before - to what are you referring?

yes, players have taken team-friendly deals before. this is not in the same category. he JUST signed this deal, obviously going for the most money he could get. why would he suddenly have a change of heart?

How could anyone possibly have a change of heart after they've JUST signed a deal? Lol. Really?

I don't know about civ but I never suggested it was likely that he would waive his opt-out for no compensation. I don't think it's likely.

But why might he?

Maybe he doesn't want to lose for the next two years and can be made comfortable about committing to another club for the long haul.

Maybe he gets so pissed at the Rockies he just wants out.

Neither of those things seems particularly likely right now, but it isn't like we cannot think of players who have gotten to that place.

why is it that you so lust over Frazier...I want a full and complete answer...the whole truth and nothing but the truth

Andujar is the more necessary. But a RH corner OF power bat would be nice. Frazier has talent. He's also been immature and jerked around some by his organizations. I think given the right opportunity he's ready to take off.

If you give me a choice of Frazier at reasonable prospect cost vs. Castellanos or Ozuna at 4-5 years ($72-$90M) guaranteed, I'll take Frazier. It's risk/reward for me.
