I don't think we can really consider it unlucky when they did everything possible to win as many games as they could that year, and it directly led to us finishing behind the Reds. Signing Nick and having Fredi manage every game like it was the World Series hurt us that year and cost us Senzel (time will tell if that means anything).

You make an interesting point about Senzel though. I know there were 2-3 posters that were high on Senzel, but the majority did seem pretty lukewarm towards him (including myself). So far hes looking very good though, and I wish we had him.

This last series that Nick played against the frogs. Our elite prospects made him look silly. I do recall him getting a hit
Or two against our bullpen. The non prospect types. The only time he reached base against our starters was against Pike. Not that means anything really. Just thought our starters in that 4 game set did fantastic.

To be fair to Fredi it's hard to tell the difference from how he manages in April and how he manages in October.

Having had many first had looks at Brendan McKay I truly hope we get him. If we don't I would LOVE to get Jordan Adell from here in Louisville Ballard High School. Kid is UNREAL.

McKay is the one guy I don't want because he feels like a limited ceiling. I think that's why he's the one guy that doesn't make sense for us given the front office's preference to draft ceiling.

As Beck and Greene continue to shine, I can't help but be annoyed at how we ended last year.

What really pisses me off is that game we won on June 1st last year.. Why did we win that game.. We could have had a better draft pick..

This isn't true 100% of the time. Otherwise teams wouldn't trade players and go into rebuild mode.

This, but the same old narrative that we should of lost games at the end is tiring. We were out of it before May.. we should have lost games in May/June/July/August and September... but then you become historically bad.. so is there a formula to intentionally losing to get the top pick or do you just wing it.

There comes a point in the season when it does more harm than good by winning more games. And that is indeed what happened last September.

The game that killed me was a huge comeback win probably late August/early September. I thought when it happened, "that had better not cost us". And it did.

Bukauskas is now 6-0 with a 1.40 ERA following his start against N. C. State Friday night. Didn't have his best stuff, but still no-hit them for the first 5.1 innings. Gave up 1 earned and 4 singles in 7 IP with 6 Ks and 2 BBs. Has now allowed 9 earned runs in 9 starts with an 81/15 K/BB Ratio and a .163 BAA.
